Endogenously Triggered DNAzyme‐Based Nanostructures for Gene‐Combined Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
DNAzymes show great promise for gene regulation and therapeutic use via controlled release triggered by endogenous factors. This review summarizes recent advances in designing and constructing nanoscale platforms enabling endogenously triggered release of DNAzyme.

Selective Scission of Orthogonal Bonds in Four‐Membered Ring Mechanophores upon Activation by a Rotaxane Actuator

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A rotaxane actuator controls bond scission—perpendicular or parallel to the axle—based on bulky group orientation in a 4‐membered ring. This allows diverse functional molecules to be released from a single core structure, expanding the molecular variety obtainable from new or existing mechanophores.

Nanoparticles Functionalized with Polymer Brushes for Gene Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
The engineering of the next generation gene delivery vectors requires the precise control of the architecture and physicochemical interactions controlling the transport, targeting, uptake, and release of nucleic acid materials to targeted cells. Polymer brush‐functionalized nanomaterials offer unprecedented control over such design and properties, and ...

N‐Amino Peptide–Graphene Quantum Dot Loaded Small Extracellular Vesicles for Targeted Therapy of Tauopathies

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
A neuron‐targeting drug delivery system is developed by incorporating the tau‐specific N‐amino peptide, mxyl‐NAP2, with graphene quantum dots (GQDs) and encapsulating the complex into small extracellular vesicles functionalized with a neuron‐targeting ligand.

Embracing Complexity: Peptides as Tunable Scaffolds in the Construction of Discrete Supramolecular Systems

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The inherent chirality, tunability, biocompatibility, and robustness of peptides provide an exciting opportunity for supramolecular chemistry. In this mini‐review, we explore uses of peptides in discrete supramolecular systems, how chemists can draw inspiration from larger biological assemblies, and discuss how embracing the complexity of peptide ...
