Programmable Information Processing With Reconfigurable Self‐Contact Variable Stiffness Mechanical Metamaterial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable self‐contact variable stiffness metamaterials based on shape memory polymers enable programmable stiffness switching. Static arrays store and encrypt information with immunity to electromagnetic interference, while asymmetric stiffness converts symmetric vibration into directional matter transport.

Definition and validation of a new methodological approach for friction evaluations of dropped-on products for road markings

open access: yes, 2011
Road safety is well known to rely on a combination of the components man, vehicle and environment. The latter plays an important role through the geometric design of the infrastructure, but the road markings and signs are also highly strategic in ...

Bio‐Inspired Gradient Heterogeneous Architectures for Ultrasensitive and Robust Strain Sensors via Programmable Crack Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by the insect campaniform sensillum, a heterogeneous bilayer strain sensor is developed based on a unique impedance mismatch and three‐dimensional structural dynamic percolation strategy. The sensor enables real‐time multi‐joint teleoperation of three joints and the gripper using a six‐degree‐of‐freedom robotic‐arm platform.

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Dependence of Coefficient of Friction from Surface Engineering at Nano Scale Levels

open access: yes
In this paper, by using theory of contact mechanics, there has been developed a new calculation model for calculation of coefficient of friction, which based not only to mechanical, but also to the adhesion forces, which occurs between contacting ...

Intrinsic Mechanical Parameters and their Characterization in Solid‐State Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
This review focuses on the intrinsic mechanical parameters and their associated characterization in solid‐state batteries. The physical significance of mechanics parameters is introduced with exhaustive classifications by elastic, plastic deformations and fracture in bulk, adhesion, friction at interfaces, and mechanical fatigue in cells ...
