APPLICATION OF THE «FOUNDATION CONCEPT» FOR THE ROAD PAVEMENT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Introduction. The introduction to the paper highlights the advantages of the «foundation concept» based on the interpretation of a pavement as the construction comprising the two main consecutively designed and constructed elements: the pavement ...

100 Years of Concrete Pavements in Iowa Final Report, March 2009 [PDF]
Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavements have given excellent service history for Iowa. The first concrete pavement was placed in Le Mars in 1904 and was in service until 1968. The Eddyville Cemetery Road placed in 1909 is still in service today.

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

Modelling Rapid Deterioration of Flooded Pavements
This paper presents a deterministic model to predict the rapid deterioration of pavements within six weeks of a flood. The model expresses pavement structural strength ratio as a function of time lapse in deflection measurement after flooding, subgrade ...

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces
