Honking noise contribution to road traffic noise prediction [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
The implementation of Road Traffic Noise predictive Models (RTNMs) is crucial in order to be able to predict noise in urban areas strongly affected by vehicular traffic. These RTNMs can have in input a small or large number of inputs, according to the implemented function.

Redefining Therapies for Drug‐Resistant Tuberculosis: Synergistic Effects of Antimicrobial Peptides, Nanotechnology, and Computational Design

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial peptide (AMP)‐loaded nanocarriers provide a multifunctional strategy to combat drug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By enhancing intracellular delivery, bypassing efflux pumps, and disrupting bacterial membranes, this platform restores phagolysosome fusion and macrophage function.

Method to determine the speed of vehicles by means of noise levels variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Statistical Pass-By Index is a parameter defined on ISO 11819-1: 1997, that pretends to measure the influence of road surfaces on traffic noise. One of the base parameters of this index is speed of vehicles on the road.

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Activity-Based Computation of Marginal Noise Exposure Costs : Implications for Traffic Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, an innovative simulation-based approach is presented to calculate optimal dynamic, road- and vehicle-specific tolls on the basis of marginal traffic noise exposures.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Stated choice valuation of traffic related noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper reports a novel application of the stated choice method to the valuation of road traffic noise. The innovative context used is that of choice between apartments with different levels of traffic noise, view, sunlight and cost with which ...

Potent and Long‐Lasting Immunogenicity Generated by LNP‐mRNA gE Antigen Against Varicella Zoster Virus via an AI‐Assisted Pipeline

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designs a novel mRNA‐LNP vaccine targeting VZV glycoprotein E (gE) for herpes zoster via an AI‐assisted pipeline. Validated in mice and rhesus macaques, the mRNA‐LNP vaccine shows strong humoral and cellular immune responses, with CD4+ T‐cell responses more effective and durable than Shingrix, offering a promising prophylactic option ...

Multi-objective road pricing: a cooperative and competitive bilevel optimization approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Costs associated with traffic externalities such as congestion, air pollution, noise, safety, etcetera are becoming unbearable. The Braess paradox shows that combating congestion by adding infrastructure may not improve traffic conditions, and ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.
