High-Precision Dynamic Traffic Noise Mapping Based on Road Surveillance Video

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2022
High-precision dynamic traffic noise maps can describe the spatial and temporal distributions of noise and are necessary for actual noise prevention. Existing monitoring point-based methods suffer from limited spatial adaptability, and prediction model ...

Mapping Nanoscale Protein‐Corona Kinetics of DoE‐Optimized Perfluorocarbon Encapsulated‐PLGA Nanoparticles by In Situ, Time‐Resolved Synchrotron SAXS

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐phase workflow (OFAT screening followed by central composite design) maps how processing variables tune PFCE‐PLGA nanoparticle size, dispersity, surface charge, loading, and 19F‐MRI signal. In situ, time‐resolved synchrotron SAXS tracks albumin‐corona growth on intact dispersions and reveals PFCE‐dependent adsorption pathways.

Impact of road traffic noise on obesity measures: observational study of three European cohorts.

open access: yesEnvironmental Research, 2020
BACKGROUND Environmental stressors such as transport noise may contribute to development of obesity through increased levels of stress hormones, sleep deprivation and endocrine disruption.

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Road Traffic Noise Exposure and Depression/Anxiety: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2019
Unlike other World Health Organization evidence reviews, the systematic review on mental disorders could not provide a quantitative estimate of the effect of environmental noise.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Road, rail, and air transportation noise in residential and workplace neighborhoods and blood pressure (RECORD Study)

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2015
Associations between road traffic noise and hypertension have been repeatedly documented, whereas associations with rail or total road, rail, and air (RRA) traffic noise have rarely been investigated.

Multi-objective road pricing: a cooperative and competitive bilevel optimization approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Costs associated with traffic externalities such as congestion, air pollution, noise, safety, etcetera are becoming unbearable. The Braess paradox shows that combating congestion by adding infrastructure may not improve traffic conditions, and ...

Effects of natural sounds on the perception of road traffic noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recent studies show that introducing sound from water features in urban open spaces may reduce the loudness of road traffic noise, but it is not clear in which situations this measure also improves overall soundscape quality.

Long-term exposure to low levels of air pollution and mortality adjusting for road traffic noise: A Danish Nurse Cohort study.

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
BACKGROUND The association between air pollution and mortality is well established, yet some uncertainties remain: there are few studies that account for road traffic noise exposure or that consider in detail the shape of the exposure-response function ...
