Use of roadsides by diurnal raptors in agricultural landscapes

Biological Conservation, 2000
In a 2772 km survey in western France, we compared the relative abundance and activity of diurnal raptors along motorway verges and secondary roads to those in open cropland, during different seasons and hours of the day. Motorway verges, and to a lesser extent secondary road verges, were used significantly more than adjacent areas by buzzards (Buteo ...

Wavelet Transform with Application in Roadside Landscape Design

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
This paper aims to apply the wavelet transform to the study of driver’s heart rate in different roadside landscape patterns. In the methodology, we describe the procedure in detail that implementing wavelet transform to denoise heart rate signal. The result shows the algorithm presented with the best performance is suitable to process heart rate signal.

For a geography of roadsides: from hydro-landscape units to roadside characterization

2023

Reenchanting Memorial Landscapes: Lessons from the Roadside

Landscape Journal, 2013

Situated as an existential hermeneutic phenomenological project, the inquiry is animated by an experiential interpretation of roadside ...

Landscape characteristics and social factors influencing attitudes toward roadside vegetation management

Landscape Ecology, 2020
For the roadside forest, utility vegetation management is a driver of landscape change involving tradeoffs between reliable electric power and preservation of trees. However, little is known about public perceptions of vegetation management in the landscape context. Our objective was to evaluate social and residential context characteristics associated
