Common construction materials do not deter turtles from nesting in roadside habitat
The Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 3, April 2026.We used a before‐during‐after study to evaluate rock rip‐rap at wetland crossings as a mitigation strategy to deter female turtles from nesting in unsafe roadside habitats. Although females did not nest in the rip‐rap, they continued to nest in roadside habitat, indicating the strategy was unsuccessful and required further research.
