The Great Dividing Range as a driver of genetic divergence in a low‐dispersing dragonfly

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 5, Page 1002-1016, October 2026.
Population genomic analyses revealed low genetic differentiation and no discrete population structure across the Great Dividing Range, indicating widespread gene flow in Synthemis eustalacta. Genetic divergence was associated with environmental gradients, elevation and landscape resistance rather than geographic distance, supporting isolation by ...

Predation Risk and Depth Use During Migration of Atlantic Salmon Smolts Through a Fjord Impacted by Hydropower Discharge

open access: yesEcology of Freshwater Fish, Volume 35, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Atlantic salmon (Salmo must survive the transition from river to fjord in order to migrate to northern latitudes where they feed and grow at sea. In the River Suldalslågen in southern Norway, hydropower regulated water discharge determines the timing and extent of river flows and fjord currents.

Sex‐Specific Atlantic Salmon Upstream Passage and Fallback at a Natural Cascade After Dam Removal

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 963-976, October 2026.
ABSTRACT In the Boquet River (NY, USA) a low‐head dam set above a ~200‐m bedrock cascade was removed in 2015. We used radio‐telemetry to assess landlocked Atlantic salmon passage at the remaining cascade (2020, 2022). Across years, 52% of males (13/25) attempted cascade passage whereas females made no discernable attempts (0/11).

Cenozoic tropical carbonate platforms in the Santos Basin, SE Brazilian Margin

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 6, Page 2454-2487, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Tropical carbonate platforms accompanied the latitudinal shifts of the tropical belt throughout the Cenozoic. Their flat‐topped geometries were influenced by a specific set of processes, including climate and sea‐level changes, carbonate facies, tectonics and continental runoff.

Co‐Occurring Weather Systems Vary by Atmospheric River Scale Across the United States

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Abstract Atmospheric Rivers (ARs) often co‐occur with other weather systems, including fronts, low‐pressure systems (LPSs), and mesoscale convective systems (MCSs), which can amplify precipitation and flood risk. While extreme rainfall is frequently linked to multiple interacting features, how these systems co‐occur with AR intensity scales and regions
