Comment on Robert N. Bellah, “Social Science as Practical Reason”
1983Professor Bellah’s strictures against what he calls “technical social science” possess the authority of the grand tradition and of the increasing methodological self-consciousness of humanistic social science. As prescriptions of how practical social science might be pursued, however, his suggestions are less compelling.
