A dicentric Robertsonian translocation in a Holstein cow
Theriogenology, 1979A new dicentric Robertsonian translocation is described in a Holstein cow. The translocation appears to have arisen spontaneously from the centric fusion of autosomal acro centrics 14 and 28 which resulted in a diploid chromosome number of 59. Behavioral and phenotypic anomalies of the affected cow are discussed.

Robertsonian translocations: Clues to imprinting
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1993AbstractRobertsonian translocations, occurring with a frequency of about 1 in 10,000 livebirths, may be an important cause of uniparental disomy as demonstrated for 13/15, 13/14, 14/14, and 22/22 translocations. Dysmorphogenesis and/or mental retardation provide clinical clues for uniparental disomy in apparently balanced offspring of translocation ...

Meiotic segregation of a 21; 22 Robertsonian translocation
Human Reproduction, 1992In-vitro fertilization of hamster oocytes with human spermatozoa has been used to study heterozygotes for structural chromosome abnormalities. To date only four men heterozygous for Robertsonian translocations have been examined. In this study, 150 sperm chromosome complements from a 21;22 translocation were investigated.

Nucleolus organizer activity and the origin of Robertsonian translocations
Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1978Chromosomes with active nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) were identified by combined Q-banding, C-banding (in some cases), and silver staining in mouse cell lines. NOR-bearing chromosomes were overrepresented among the chromosomes involved in Robertsonian translocations in LM(TK-), A9, and RAG cell lines.

Radiation-induced nondisjunction and Robertsonian translocation in drosophila
Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1974Abstract In Drosophila melanogaster, gametes formed by oocytes in which Robertsonian translocations were induced in an immature stage usually show chromosomal imbalance. It is estimated that fewer than 20% of the gametes bearing newly induced Robertsonian translocations “fusing” X and fourth chromosomes are of balanced constitution. In contrast, when

Robertsonian translocations in man: evidence for prezygotic selection
Cytogenetic and Genome Research, 1968In the present paper, additional data on the segregation of the three types of Robertsonian translocations which occur in man are considered. In both t(DqGq) and t(DqDq) there is a significant excess of balanced heterozygotes over chromosomally normal progeny among the offspring of male heterozygotes, and this is considered to provide further evidence ...
