Self-consistent modelling of the polar thermosphere and ionosphere to magnetospheric convection and precipitation (invited review) [PDF]

open access: yes
It has recently been demonstrated that the dramatic effects of plasma precipitation and convection on the composition and dynamics of the polar thermosphere and ionosphere include a number of strong interactive, or feedback, processes.

Wavelength Dependence of Solar Rotation and Solar Cycle UV Irradiance Variations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
It is shown that for the 5-year period 1982 to 1987 the solar irradiance decrease is estimated to be about 5 to 7 percent over the spectral interval 195 to 225 nm. This change becomes progressively smaller with increasing wavelength.

Secondary Somatosensory Cortex Is Required for Learning but Not Execution of a Tactile Discrimination

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 3, February 2026.
The relationship between primary somatosensory cortex (S1) and secondary somatosensory cortex (S2) during learning is not clear. Here, we show that when confronted with a texture discrimination using the whiskers, S2 is required during learning but not after learning.

Six reasons why thermospheric measurements and models disagree [PDF]

open access: yes
The differences between thermospheric measurements and models are discussed. Sometimes the model is in error and at other times the measurements are, but it also is possible for both to be correct, yet have the comparison result in an apparent ...
