Automatic Robust Adaptive Beamforming via Ridge Regression
2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007In this paper we derive a class of new parameter free robust adaptive beamformers using the generalized sidelobe canceler reparameterization of the Capon beamformer. In this parameterization the minimum variance beamformer is obtained as the solution of a linear least squares problem.

In this chapter, we first review the background, basic principle and structure of adaptive beamformers. Since there are many robust adaptive beamforming methods proposed in literature, for easy understanding, we organize them into two categories from the mathematical point of view: one is based on quadratic optimization with linear and nonlinear ...

This chapter presents robust adaptive beamforming techniques designed specifically for microphone array applications. The basics of adaptive beamformers are first reviewed with the Griffiths-Jim beamformer (GJBF). Its robustness problems caused by steering vector errors are then discussed with some conventionally proposed robust beamformers.

Robust adaptive beamforming in nested array
Signal Processing, 2015In this communication, we consider the problem of designing robust adaptive beamformer in the newly proposed nested array, where we maintain distortionless response towards the true desired signal and suppress more interferences than the number of actual physical sensors.

Robust multiple suppression using adaptive beamforming
Geophysical Prospecting, 1998Minimum variance unbiased (MVU) beamforming is a type of multichannel filtering which extracts coherent signals without distortion, whilst minimizing residual noise power. Adaptive beamforming estimates signal and noise characteristics as part of the extraction process.

Robust constrained-LMS adaptive beamforming algorithm
2004 IEEE Region 10 Conference TENCON 2004., 2004The existing adaptive beamforming algorithms are known to degrade if some of underlying assumptions on the environment, sources, or sensor array become violated and this may cause even slight mismatches between the actual and presumed array responses to the desired signal.

Robust adaptive beamforming via target tracking
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1996The proposed robust beamformer adaptively self-corrects and tracks desired-source location errors or variations regardless of the eigenstructure of the input correlation matrix, of the array shape and nature of the noise. It only requires an order of computations of the sensors number and performs nearly as well as MUSIC in localization.

Robust Adaptive Beamforming of Volumetric Arrays
2007 Conference Record of the Forty-First Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2007This paper considers the development of adaptive beamforming algorithms for a prototype volumetric array. Volumetric arrays are desirable in passive sonar systems because of their ability to resolve left-right ambiguity. However, adaptively beamforming volumetric arrays poses several unique challenges compared to linear arrays such as the large number ...
