Design for Robustness

2012
We develop several design techniques to improve circuit SER with low area and performance overhead. Our techniques are based on the careful analysis of the interplay between signal probability, observability, and masking mechanisms. The first technique, called SiDeR, involves finding logical implications between signals, using logic simulation ...

On Robust Designs

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1989
Box and Draper (1975) proposed a criterion of robustness against the presence of wild observations for the problem of estimation of Xβ in the response surface model E( Y) = Xβ, D(Y) = σ2.I. Gopalau and Dey (1976) elttended this concept to block designs setting, for the problem of estimation of σ2.

Principles of robust design methodology

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2007
AbstractThe literature on robust design has focused chiefly on the development of methods for identifying robust design solutions. In this paper we present a literature review of conflicts and agreements on the principles of robust design. Through this review four central principles of robust design are identified: awareness of variation, insensitivity

Design flow robustness evaluation

SMC'03 Conference Proceedings. 2003 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Conference Theme - System Security and Assurance (Cat. No.03CH37483), 2004
A designer often over-designs in solving a problem. This is necessary to minimize risk and to ensure safety during the lifetime of the product. This conservative design approach might not be too farfetched if robustness of the design is evaluated. One way to combat this approach is to set up a controller to identify the system correctly.

Design for Robustness

2009
<p>Robustness is the ability to survive unforeseen circum-stances without undue damage or loss of function. It has become a requirement expressed in modern building codes, mostly without much advice as to how it can be achieved. Engineering has developed some approaches based on tra-ditional practice as well as recent insight. However, know-ledge

Robust Medical Monitor Design

2015 International Conference on Healthcare Informatics, 2015
With recent advances in low-power low-cost communication, sensing, and actuation technologies, Medical Cyber Physical Systems (MCPS) have revolutionized automated medical diagnostics and care. With this revolution, dawns a new era of medical monitoring where fusing measurements from multiple devices provides unprecedented early detection of critical ...

Robust Ergonomic Virtual Design

2009
From the early development phases of a new industrial product, realistic simulations can be performed in a virtual environment to study the human-machine interaction. In a virtual lab, it is possible to perform experiments to assess the ergonomics of the new product using mannequins simulating the human body, and to deal with the problem of ...

Decentralised design of robust controllers

IEE Proceedings D Control Theory and Applications, 1987
An approach is proposed to the synthesis of additional feedback controllers for decentralized multivariable dynamic systems, that improves their features (with a special emphasis on their robustness) not interfering in the same time with the stabilizing action of the nominal feedback. Two methods are discussed and numerical examples are given.
