A mathematical programming approach for improving the robustness of least sum of absolute deviations regression

Naval Research Logistics, 2006
AbstractThis paper discusses a novel application of mathematical programming techniques to a regression problem. While least squares regression techniques have been used for a long time, it is known that their robustness properties are not desirable. Specifically, the estimators are known to be too sensitive to data contamination.

Robust design optimization with mathematical programming neural networks

Computers & Structures, 2000
Abstract Traditional neural networks involve the training in order to design the layers and neurons and to train the network to find the weights for the neurons such that the difference between the predicted output and the practical output is minimized.

Robust estimators using mathematical programming algorithms

2012 IEEE International Conference on Power System Technology (POWERCON), 2012
This paper presents different types of robust state estimators and introduces original formulations that allow solutions to be obtained using general-purpose mathematical programming algorithms. Different set up of bad measurements and bad leverage measurements are introduced to evaluate the performance of these estimators.

Mathematical programming with linear uncertain constraints—application to robust control

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1990
Abstract In this paper we address the problem of optimizing a convex functional subject to linear constraints with uncertainty, which has wide applications in robust control theory. Robust characteristic polynomial assignment is first briefly reviewed to motivate the study.

The Flexible Possibilistic-Robust Mathematical Programming Approach for the Resilient Supply Chain Network: An Operational Plan

Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, 2021
Nowadays, the management of soil resources for global food security is one of the strategic purposes of the countries. In this regard, creating soil nutrition’s supply chain network for the fertility of agricultural fields is one of the most critical priorities of the government.
