Rock-Cut Tomb GE 89 Recently Excavated at Giza

The rock tomb GE 89 was discovered during the GPR survey of the area in the extreme eastern edge of the Eastern Necropolis at Giza, northwest from the rock tomb of Kakherptah (GE 7721). GE 89 is an L-shaped tomb, with a layout similar to G 7721; it consists of two rooms separated by pillars.

The Yelbeyi rock-cut tomb located in Isauria presents a different type of the rock-cut tombs widespread in Isauria and Rough Cilicia and is a fine example of the creative spirit of the local funerary art. The tomb is built to resemble a house and its main scene shows a victorious horseman riding his rearing horse on the naked enemy lying on the ground.
