Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

Hysteresis properties of chondritic meteorites: New results for chondrules from the Allende meteorite [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2002
Hysteresis properties of twenty individual chondrules from a ~50 cc piece of the Allende carbonaceous chondritic meteorite, with diameters between about 0.08 and 0.44 cm are reported. Coercive force Hc varies from about 3 mT to 32.5 mT.

Universal Electronic‐Structure Relationship Governing Intrinsic Magnetic Properties in Permanent Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Permanent magnets derive their extraordinary strength from deep, universal electronic‐structure principles that control magnetization, anisotropy, and intrinsic performance. This work uncovers those governing rules, examines modern modeling and AI‐driven discovery methods, identifies critical bottlenecks, and reveals electronic fingerprints shared ...

Hysteresis of Natural Magnetite Ensembles: Micromagnetics of Silicate‐Hosted Magnetite Inclusions Based on Focused‐Ion‐Beam Nanotomography

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
Three‐dimensional geometries of silicate‐hosted magnetic inclusions from the Harcus intrusion, South Australia have been determined using focused‐ion‐beam nanotomography (FIB‐nt). By developing an effective workflow, the geometries were reconstructed for

Magnetism and Nonlinear Charge Transport in NiFe2O4/γ‐Al2O3/SrTiO3 Heterostructure: Toward Spintronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this report, we demonstrate that a crystalline phase of 52nm thick NiFe2O4 can be grown by RF sputtering on top of γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 at a significantly low temperature (150 °C) without compromising the mobility and carrier density of the 2D electron gas at the γ‐Al2O3(8nm)/SrTiO3 interface.

Temperature‐Induced Nonvolatile Switching through Thermal Hysteresis in a Gd3Fe5O12/Ho3Fe5O12 Exchange‐Coupled Rare‐Earth Iron Garnet Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reducing power consumption in spintronic memory remains a major challenge due to the need for high current densities. A bilayer of gadolinium and holmium iron garnets enables purely temperature‐induced, nonvolatile magnetic switching with bistable states within a ±25 K range. This approach achieves up to 66‐fold lower energy use than current spin–orbit

Magnetic studies of natural goethite samples from Tharsis, Huelva, Spain [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 2006
Magnetic properties of goethite have not been widely studied. Natural samples often contain complex mineral mixtures. Material from Tharsis (Huelva, Spain) is studied in order to corroborate the presence of goethite using rock magnetic measurements ...

Control of Source‐To‐Sink Processes on the Dispersal, Fractionation, and Deposition of Magnetic Minerals in a Tropical Mesotidal Estuarine System

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
This study aims to elucidate the control of source‐to‐sink processes on the sediment dynamics of a complex mesotidal tropical estuarine system using rock magnetic, sedimentological, mineralogical, and geochemical methods.
