Classification of Rock Bursts

Soviet mining science, 1986
The authors provide classification criteria for rock bursts based primarily on three features: the location of the focal zone of a rock burst relative to the mine; the reciprocal interaction of a rock burst and the existing tectonic structure in the part of the bed experiencing the rock burst; and the distribution of rock bursts according to the energy

New Rock Burst Prediction Method

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
This paper gives a new rock burst prediction method of potential index, according to the rock deformation and failure of the rock and the relationship between energy transfer, the characteristics of uniaxial compression stress-strain entire process curve.

Numerical simulation of rock bursts

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1991
Abstract The mathematical description of dynamic fracture processes, in particular of rock bursts in hardcoal mining, can be advanced by the use of dynamic iterative methods. From a comparison of two different numerical approaches the dynamic finite difference method as used in the FLAC program turned out to be the most suitable.

Mechanisms of rock burst in hard and thick upper strata and rock-burst controlling technology

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2016
Rock burst frequently occurs during coal mining at the Huafeng Coal Mine because of the high-strength, thick conglomerate strata above the coal seam. Given this situation, theoretical analysis, physical simulation, and field measurement methods were applied to study the mechanism of rock burst of hard and thick upper strata in this paper.

Study on fault induced rock bursts

Journal of China University of Mining and Technology, 2008
In order to study the rules of rock bursts caused by faults by means of mechanical analysis of a roof rock-mass balanced structure and numerical simulation about fault slip destabilization, the effect of coal mining operation on fault plane stresses and slip displacement were studied.

Rock bursting phenomena in a superficial rock mass in southern central Sweden

Rock Mechanics Felsmechanik Mecanique des Roches, 1982
Rock Bursting Phenomena in a Superficial Rock Mass in Southern Central Sweden Rock bursting phenomena have been observed in connection with excavation of two shallow sited rock tunnels in the Forsmark area in southern, central Sweden. The tunnels are excavated in gneiss granite and the rock cover varies between 5–15 m.
