Strength weakening characteristic of rock burst structural planes

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2018
Prediction and prevention of rock burst in project is difficult because of its paroxysm and sudden destructiveness. Determining how to predict the time, place, and intensity of rock burst is one of the main engineering problems that must be solved via ...

Damage Evaluation for Rock Burst Proneness of Deep Hard Rock under Triaxial Cyclic Loading

open access: yes, 2018
High stress and strong excavation disturbance are the main causes of dynamic disasters, rock burst in deep hard rocks, and are more frequent and violent than those in shallow, which seriously restricts the deep mining.

Coherence‐Gated Wrapped‐Phase InSAR With Matrix‐Based Uncertainty Diagnostics for Burial‐Mound Hotspot Ranking (Sicily, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Burial mounds are key elements of Mediterranean funerary landscapes, but in intensively cultivated coastal plains their low‐relief expression is easily obscured by ploughing, levelling and rapidly changing surface conditions, making single‐date observations unreliable.

Study on initial fracture distribution and bearing damage evolution mechanism of disturbed coal samples in oil-rich coal deposits in western China

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
The simultaneous formation of stress transfer and structural optimization in deep underground engineering strongly influences the occurrence and severity of dynamic disasters, especially under complex stress–structure conditions.

Rock Burst in the Kan'etsu Tunnel

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Engineering Geology, 1981
In excavation of the Kan'etsu tunnel, rock burst occurred expectedly. Especially for about 1 year since July 1980, many broken pieces of rock had sprung out frequently. Rock burst should be classified into sometypes, such as springing of rocks, cracks on face without springing of rocks, and only breakdown noises onface or in bed rock.

‘Where are the adults?’: Troubling child‐activism and children's political participation

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Children's political participation is a well‐established theme in childhood studies. In this article we offer an original account of child activism that takes into account the entangled and emergent aspect of children as activists. We begin with a historical and a conceptual review, noting the importance of mid‐20th century developments such ...

Leaving children behind for cross‐border education: Unveiling the emotional agency of international post‐graduate student mothers

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite growing interest in the internationalisation of higher education, the experiences of international student parents, particularly international student mothers, remain largely marginalised in research and policy. This paper examines the emotional agency of international student mothers who leave their children behind in their home ...

Simulation study on the influence of different influencing factors on the amount of drilling cuttings

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
The drilling cuttings method is an important means to determine and predict the risk of coal and rock dynamic disasters such as rock burst. Accurately obtaining the variation law of drilling cuttings is one of the keys to understanding the stress state ...

New method for introducing gradient stress into rock-burst prediction

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2020
During the excavation of underground projects, the tangential stress in the surrounding rock near the cave wall is distributed in a gradient because of the disturbance of excavation unloading in the deep rock mass.

Marine silicon for biomedical sustainability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating marine silicon for biomedical engineering. Abstract Despite momentous divergence from oceanic origin, human beings and marine organisms exhibit elemental homology through silicon utilization. Notably, silicon serves as a critical constituent in multiple biomedical processes.
