Rock Types, Pore Types, and Hydrocarbon Exploration: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1985
A proposed exploration-oriented method of classifying porosity in sedimentary rocks is based on microscopic examination of cores or cuttings. Factors include geometry, size, abundance, and connectivity of the pores. The porosity classification is predictive of key petrophysical characteristics: porosity-permeability relationships, capillary pressures ...

Carbonate Rock Type Matrix RocMat, The Ultimate Rock Properties Catalogue

Volume 6: Polar and Arctic Sciences and Technology; Offshore Geotechnics; Petroleum Technology Symposium, 2013
Rock typing is one of the most important steps in reservoir modeling, and it’s the main task in reservoir characterization. In carbonate, the rock typing work that’s been performed during the last two decades had a little progress in term of providing reliable estimation of reservoir behavior.

Integrated Rock Typing of the Grainstone Facies in a Sequence Framework: a Case from the Jurassic Arab Formation in the Persian Gulf

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2018
The late Jurassic Arab Formation, a significant carbonate‐evaporite reservoir rock in the Persian Gulf, is characterized by frequent grainstone facies.

Carbonate Rock Types Matrix, the Ultimate Rock Properties Classification Catalogue

International Petroleum Technology Conference, 2013
Abstract The heterogeneity in carbonate rocks, made it hard for Geoscientists and Reservoir Engineers to define a universal classification methodology that is able to honour the critical reservoir static properties. Most classifications, like, lithofacies, capillarity and textural methods have based their rocktyping

Lognormal-type distributions in igneous rocks—V

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1963
Abstract The general statistical nature of the distribution of the oxides of the abundant elements (Si, Al, Na, K, Mg, Ca, FeII, FeIII, Mn, Ti and P) in 343 granitic rocks from Japan has been considered. The distribution of the most abundant constituent, SiO2, shows decided negative skewness; K2O might also be negatively skewed. With the exception of

Multispectral rock-type separation and classification

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
This paper shows the possibility of separating and classifying remotely-sensed multispectral data from rocks and minerals onto seven geological rock-type groups. These groups are extracted from the general categories of metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks.

GENETIC TYPES OF DIAMOND-BEARING ROCKS

2022
The book contains materials on the search for modern and buried alluvial and primary deposits of diamonds. Much attention is paid to prospecting testing of potentially diamondiferous deposits and provides information on all types of diamondiferous rocks currently known.

Rock type and landform assemblages

1988
Rock types might influence landform development to such an extent that distinctive landform assemblages could be associated with specific rocks. If this is the case rock types could be predicted simply from an analysis of landform assemblages such as are observable on aerial photographs or other means of remote sensing.
