Analytical and Numerical Study on the Pillar Rockbursts Mechanism

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2005
Based on cusp-type catastrophe theory, a sample rock–rock model for studying the pillar rockburst mechanism is presented in this paper. It is shown that the stiffness ratio, K, of the roof and floor to the pillar plays an important role in the outbreak of instability.

Mechanism and catastrophe theory analysis of circular tunnel rockburst

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2006
Mechanism of circular tunnel rockburst is that, when the carrying capacity of the centralized zone of plastic deformation in limiting state reduces, the comparatively intact part in rock mass unloads by way of elasticity; rockburst occurs immediately when the elastic energy released by the comparatively intact part exceeds the energy dissipated by ...

Destabilization mechanism and energy evolution of coal pillar in rockburst disaster

Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2020
Rockburst disaster caused by coal pillar poses a serious threat to safety production in advanced mining technology, such as the technology of gob-side entry driving, which is employed to develop the mining rate of coal. In order to reveal the rockburst mechanism of coal pillar in mines from the view of energy evolution, the bursting liability of coal ...

Numerical Analysis of Induced Mechanism of Rockbursts in Tunnels

58th U.S. Rock Mechanics/Geomechanics Symposium
ABSTRACT: Rockburst is a sudden and violent failure characterized by the breaking up and expulsion of rock from its surroundings. Tunnel rockbursts pose a significant threat to the safety of excavation operations, leading to property damage and tunneler casualties.

A Mechanism for High Wall-rock Velocities in Rockbursts

pure and applied geophysics, 1997
Considerable evidence has been reported for wall-rock velocities during rockbursts in deep gold mines that are substantially greater than ground velocities associated with the primary seismic events. Whereas varied evidence suggests that slip across a fault at the source of an event generates nearby particle velocities of, at most, several m/s ...
