Prevention of rockburst by guide holes based on numerical simulations

Mining Science and Technology (China), 2009
Abstract We studied variations in the stress field around guide holes drilled during tunnel excavation to understand the mechanical mechanism by which these holes help prevent rockburst. The study used elasto-plastic analysis of a circular chamber under non-axisymmetrical loads.

Applicability of energy-absorbing support system for rockburst prevention in underground roadways

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2020
Abstract Rockburst is one of the leading disasters in mining and rock engineering causing serious casualties and property losses. A major engineering challenge for underground roadways in mines experiencing significant seismicity is the performance of the support system.

Deep-hole directional fracturing of thick hard roof for rockburst prevention

Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, 2012
Abstract Thick hard roof in coal mines is usually a significant factor that induces dynamic disasters, such as rockburst. This study introduces a new technology called directional hydraulic fracturing characterized by cutting out an initial groove in the borehole and then injecting high pressure liquid to break the rock.

The Study on Prevention of Rockburst When Mining in Folding Structure Areas

2011 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2011
In order to discuss the relation between rock burst and stress field in folding structure areas, the law the changing law of local stress area induced by mining was studied by FLAC2D simulation procedure and the targeted prevention measure was proposed from a strategic defense view based on the characteristics of rockburst in fold areas.

Rockbursts in Coal Mines and Their Prevention

2017
The preventive methods described have proved highly effective. They comprise laying out the workings in such a way as to minimize dangerous concentrations of ground stresses, and early elimination by means of blasting, drilling, or water infusion. An account of these methods as applied in German coal mines, the deepest in the world.

Research on the Mechanism and Prevention of Rockburst at the Yinxin Gold Mine

Journal of China University of Mining and Technology, 2007
Abstract The occurrence and nature of shaft rockburst in the Yinxin gold mine are recorded and analyzed. Rockburst happens along an obvious south-north orientation. The ground and surrounding rock stresses are measured in this mine. The research indicates that the directivity of rockburst is closely related to geological structure and to abnormal ...

Rockburst hazard evaluation and prevention methods in Polish copper mines

2011
Longstanding mining of copper deposit in the Legnica-Glogow Mining Basin (LGOM area) enabled to gain broad experience concerning the impact of geological and mining conditions on seismic and rockburst hazard. Basing on gathered data, the methods of rockburst prevention for deep copper mines were developed. Methods of rockburst hazard evaluation as well

Seismic monitoring for rockburst prevention in the Ostrava-Karviná Coalfield, Czech Republic

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1997
Abstract Seismic activity in the Ostrava-Karviná Coalfield is continuously monitored by networks of seismographic stations located both underground and on the surface. Software has been implemented for statistical analysis and various types of data display to aid interpretation.
