The Mechanism and Application of Deep-Hole Precracking Blasting on Rockburst Prevention [PDF]

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2015
The mechanism of preventing rockburst through deep-hole precracking blasting was studied based on experimental test, numerical simulation, and field testing. The study results indicate that the deep-hole precracking could change the bursting proneness and stress state of coal-rock mass, thereby preventing the occurrence of rockburst.

Geophysical Evaluation of Effectiveness of Blasting for Roof Caving During Longwall Mining of Coal Seam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Deep longwall mining of coal seams is made in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB) under complicated and mostly unfavourable geological and mining conditions. Usually, it is correlated with rockburst hazard mostly at a high level.

A new in situ test for the assessment of the rock-burst alarm threshold during tunnelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Rock-burst is one of the most serious risks associated with hard rock tunnelling and mining at high depths. Monitoring of acoustic emissions emitted by the rock-mass during excavation and their interpretation now permits the early assessment of failure ...

A study of the characteristics and influence mechanism of time delayed rockburst in a TBM tunnel under the blasting disturbance

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi, 2023
The occurrence of time delayed rockburst usually has strong randomness and will pose a great threat to construction safety. Excavation disturbance and blasting disturbance will have impact of varying degrees on the potential time delayed rockburst area ...

Methodology of research in the fight against rockbursts at the Provence colliery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
International audienceA research program has been carried out at INERIS aiming to quantify rockburst potential at the Provence colliery. As a part of the research, numerical modeling of fractured rock mass has been undertaken, using the three-dimensional

Geological and geotechnical challenges on the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe and their impact on hardrock pillar design

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is notable for its rich platinum group metal deposits but poses significant geological and geotechnical challenges due to its complex rock types and structural features. Traditional pillar design methods are insufficient for addressing these complexities; the study suggests incorporating advanced techniques such as machine ...

Prediction and prevention of rockburst in metal mines – A case study of Sanshandao gold mine

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2016
Rockburst is a kind of artificial earthquake induced by human activities, such as mining excavations. The mechanism of rockburst induced by mining disturbance is revealed in terms of energy in this context.

Rockburst prevention by microwave destressing: a numerical investigation

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources
AbstractRockbursts are a complex phenomenon characterized by a violent ejection of rock fragments from the free face of deep underground mines. Due to the sudden, disruptive, and complex nature of these events, accurate predictions of rockbursts are difficult.

A review on rockburst prediction and prevention to shape an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making for underground excavations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A scientometric analysis of 2449 journal articles and a comprehensive review of 336 papers were conducted, discussing and identifying challenges and research gaps in rockburst prediction and prevention and proposing an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making in underground excavations. Abstract With underground engineering projects becoming
