Coupling of 0D/1D Grain Boundaries Inducing Extreme Charge Rearrangement/Magnetic Resonance for Ultrabroadband Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
The 0D/1D grain boundary coupling between Fe₃O₄ quantum dots and CNTs induces extreme charge redistribution and short‐range magnetic resonance, enabling complete electromagnetic wave absorption across the entire X and Ku bands. ABSTRACT Ferrite–carbon composites effectively absorb electromagnetic (EM) waves via coupled mechanisms.

Three‐Dimensional Highly Thermally Conductive Graphene Blocks by Multiscale Blending and Multistage Pressure Induction

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
An expandable‐thickness graphene block (GPB) with high thermal conductivity synthesized through multiscale blending and multistage pressure induction (MBP) achieves a record thickness of 12.1 mm, which is more than 10 times that of existing graphene materials. The maximum thermal diffusion ability of GPB‐MBP reaches 6.3 W/K, which offers a new approach

In Situ Methanation on Mars: A Process Concept Study on the Impact of H2/CO2 and Recycle Ratio

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The rocket propellant methane can be produced on Mars by in situ resource utilization. The H2/CO2 ratio is decisive, and excess H2 is favored for providing sufficient propellant purity. The operation mode—with or without recycling of unreacted reactants—depends on the resource availability of the selected landing site. Abstract For return missions from

Viability of an Electrically Driven Pump-Fed Hybrid Rocket for Small Launcher Upper Stages

open access: yesAerospace, 2019
An electrically driven pump-fed cycle for a hybrid rocket engine is proposed and compared to a simpler gas-pressurized feed system. A liquid-oxygen/paraffin-based fuel hybrid rocket engine which powers the third stage of a Vega-like launcher is ...

Plasmakristall‐4 Experiment: 10 Years of Operation in Orbit

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plasmakristall‐4 (PK‐4) is a microgravity complex plasma laboratory operated for 10 years on board the International Space Station. Its main purpose is the particle‐resolved investigation of generic condensed matter phenomena using strongly coupled suspensions of microparticles immersed in low‐pressure gas‐discharge plasmas.
