Hypergolic droplet‒film interaction dynamics at high temperatures

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
The whole reaction process can be distinctly identified as three stages based on the corona size and the temperature temporal evolution. In the coalescence regime, T* maintains quasi‐stationary values during initial contact, corresponding to hydrodynamic coalescence process. Consequently, the first stage is defined as the inertia‐dominant stage. In the

ADAPTIVE SIMULATION OF THE INTERNAL FLOW IN A ROCKET NOZZLE

open access: yesLatin American Applied Research - An international journal, 2014
This work is a first step in the understanding of the interaction process between internal shock waves and the flow transition inside of a rocket nozzle that develops during the engine start-up phase or when the nozzle is operated at overexpanded conditions.

Conceptual design: Dependence of parameterization on design performance of three-stage hybrid rocket

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2014
The subject of this paper is to improve on parameterization for conceptual design method of three stage hybrid rocket. Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) is employed to solve multi-disciplinary design exploration of a three-stage launch vehicle ...

Passive flow-separation control in a dual-bell rocket nozzle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A delayed detached eddy simulation of a sub-scale cold-gas dual-bell nozzle flow at high Reynolds number and in sea-level mode is carried out at nozzle pressure ratio NPR=45.7. In this regime the over-expanded flow exhibits a symmetric and controlled flow separation at the inflection point, that is the junction between the two bells, leading to the ...

Nozzle contours for minimum particle-lag loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
The flow of a gas-particle mixture through a rocket nozzle is analyzed under the approximation that the particle slip velocity is small compared with the average mixture velocity, using one-dimensional gasdynamics, the Stokes drag law, and corresponding ...

Experimental validation of Geant4 nuclear interaction models in dose calculations of therapeutic carbon ion beams

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The choice of nuclear interaction models in Monte Carlo simulations affects the dose calculation accuracy for light ion beam therapy. Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the dose calculation accuracy and simulation time of three GATE‐RTiON/Geant4 physics lists for therapeutic carbon ion beams, assessing their suitability for ...

Development and Numerical validation of an Aerospike nozzle Contour Design [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Aerospike nozzle simplified design and analysis, as well as test results, are presented. New techniques in nozzle design have been used to improve the performance of current rocket engines. The use of an aerospike nozzle is one such technique.

Analytical One-Dimensional Model of Drop Ejection from a Micro-Size Nozzle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In this article, we construct a novel one-dimensional model of drop ejection from a micro-size nozzle due to a short pressure pulse applied to the liquid in the nozzle. The pressure pulse supplies the kinetic energy to the perturbed liquid-bulge squeezed from the nozzle, which then ballistically lengthens forming a ligament.

Single-Cycle Impulse from Detonation Tubes with Nozzles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Experiments measuring the single-cycle impulse from detonation tubes with nozzles were conducted by hanging the tubes in a ballistic pendulum arrangement within a large tank.
