This work investigates the interaction of two isocyanurate‐based bonding agents with ammonium dinitramide: triallyl isocyanurate and 1,3,5‐tris(2‐hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, which contain alkene and hydroxyl functional groups in their side chains, respectively.

An Experimental Study of the Performance of a Subscale Kerosene - Fuelled Ejector Ramjet at Simulated Takeoff [PDF]
The ejector ramjet is a rocket based combined cycle propulsion system in which a rocket and ramjet are integrated to accrue synergistic benefits. A proof-of-concept experiment to augment the thrust of a simulated rocket by the induction of air through ...

Ammonium dinitramide (ADN) and 3,4‐Diaminofurazan (DAF) form a 1:1 energetic cocrystal. We report its crystal structure and spectroscopic signature and evaluate thermal stability, decomposition behavior, hygroscopicity, and combustion properties. Propellant performance calculations benchmark the material against guanylurea dinitramide (GuDN) and ...

Characterization of Ultrafast Decomposition Dynamics in Nitrate Esters
ABSTRACT Ignition of energetic materials initiates chemical reactions on atomic length scales within femtoseconds, making these reactions difficult to investigate experimentally. The technique of femtosecond time‐resolved mass spectrometry (FTRMS) can capture molecular rearrangement and bond‐breaking events in isolated molecules with sub‐50 femtosecond

Mechanical properties of HTPB propellants: Recent advances and underlying mechanisms
Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)-based composite solid propellants (CSPs) are widely used in solid rocket motors due to their excellent mechanical properties and low cost.

Modelling Rocket System Performance Parameters
What distinguishes the rocket system from airbreathing engines is that the rocket carries its own propellants, fuel and oxidants. The modern rocket was originally developed for ballistic missiles.

This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

Analysis of pressure blips in aft-finocyl solid rocket motor [PDF]
Ballistic anomalies have frequently occurred during the firing of several solid rocket motors (SRMs) (Inertial Upper Stage, Space Shuttle Redesigned SRM (RSRM) and Titan IV SRM Upgrade (SRMU)), producing even relevant and unexpected variations of the SRM
