Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

Combined UV–vis transmittance and wavelength‐dependent photo‐assisted DC I–V analyses reveal defect‐induced optical instability and a high density of deep donor‐like subgap traps in La‐doped SrSnO3. The resulting MOSFET achieves one of the highest on/off ratios reported for ABO3 perovskite devices, demonstrating the promise of stannate perovskites as ...

Potentiality of Using Vertical and Three-Dimensional Isolation Systems in Nuclear Structures
Although the horizontal component of an earthquake response can be significantly reduced through the use of conventional seismic isolators, the vertical component of excitation is still transmitted directly into the structure.

This study presents a bioengineered assembloid (ASM) system combining glioblastoma (GBM) cells in oxidized alginate (OA) microgels with dorsal organoids (DOs). This model simulates brain tumor‐host interactions, revealing enhanced GBM invasion, altered gene expression, and aggressive infiltration patterns, demonstrating ASM as a valuable platform for ...

This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

The structure and arrangement of the rocks of Arthur’s Seat [PDF]
PART I.—REVIEW OF THE DIFFERENT THEORIES REGARDING THE FORMATION OF THE HILL. That remarkable group of hills, crags, and valleys included in the Queen’s Park of Edinburgh, and often collectively termed Arthur’s Seat, has been a fruitful source of interest and discussion to geologists.

Effect of Footing Shape on the Rocking Behavior of Shallow Foundations
Sources such as wind or severe seismic activity often exert extreme lateral loading onto the shallow foundations supporting high-rise structures such as bridge piers, buildings, shear walls, and wind turbine towers.
