Rocking shear wall foundations in regions of moderate seismicity
<p>This paper presents an investigation to reduce the size of shear wall foundations for earthquake forces in region of moderate seismicity. The approach taken is to allow rocking of the shear wall foundation and to include the frame action of the ...

A Review of Failure Modes and Safety Strategies of Lithium‐Ion Batteries from Materials to Systems
A cascade‐aware framework is presented for lithium‐ion battery safety, linking thermal runaway initiation, acceleration, runaway reaction, and propagation with material‐, cell/pack‐, and system‐level interventions. By integrating failure mechanisms, quantitative safety indicators, and staged interception strategies, this review highlights how safer ...

Dynamic Analysis of Resilient Rocking Wall Structures: A Numerical Study on Performance Demands
Dynamic time history analysis has long been regarded as an acceptable and reliable method for the seismic design of structures. The methodology for conducting such analyses, particularly for modern structures with advanced seismic resisting systems, is ...

Molecular and Cellular Hallmarks of Age‐Related Vestibular Hair Cell Degeneration
This study utilizes single‐cell RNA‐seq transcriptomes, advanced imaging, and electrophysiology to examine universal and cell‐type‐specific aging signatures of vestibular hair cells. The study shows that impaired hair bundle function is a key driver of age‐related vestibular dysfunction.

Hybrid experimental analysis of semi-active rocking wall systems
Rocking walls are an effective method of dissipating seismic response energy and mitigating damage. Semi-active resetable devices have shown significant potential to dissipate energy, customize hysteretic behavior and reduce damage.

Unconventional spin currents are generated in an antiferromagnetic NiO(110)/Ta/CoFeB trilayer, where the Néel vector governs spin transport. The resulting spin–orbit torques enable deterministic field‐free switching of perpendicular magnetization.

Loss of natural habitats and increased human activity results in warming up of cities and a reduced biodiversity. Vertical greenery systems (VGSs) have been proposed to mitigate rising temperatures and the loss of biodiversity. So far, studies on existing VGSs have only analysed a single ecosystem service and their performance has not been compared to ...
