Method of Turns Arrangement of Noncircular Rogowski Coil With Rectangular Section

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021
The circular Rogowski coil with a rectangular section is the most common and basic measuring unit of current. However, in some situations, a noncircular Rogowski coil is more suitable because of the limited space to be embedded in and the demand for ...

PCB Rogowski Coil With DC Sensing for Double Pulse Test Applications

IEEE transactions on power electronics
Accurately measuring the switching current behavior of wide bandgap devices requires a current sensor with a wide bandwidth covering dc to high frequency ranges. However, traditional Rogowski coils (RCs) for current sensing either lack the dc measurement

FE based eccentricity analysis of Rogowski Coil

2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2016
The Rogowski Coil (RC) has air as core around which coil is wound. It works on the principle of Faraday's and Ampere's law. RC can be used to measure both high speed impulse and alternating currents. RC offers some very important properties like wide bandwidth, galvanic isolation, linearity, lightness and cheap.

PCB Rogowski coils benefit relay protection

IEEE Computer Applications in Power, 2002
Innovative Rogowski coils enable the design of advanced protection systems when used with new multifunction relays and fiberoptic communication. The protection systems have faster response times to faults and can easily adjust to load and/or power system configuration changes.

Studies of a slow-wave Rogowski coil

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1990
A Rogowski coil in a conducting shield can be considered as a slow-wave transmission line. By carefully constructing the slow-wave structure in such a way that the distributed capacitance becomes large (on the order of nF) and the coil inductance is at least several microhenries, it is possible to obtain a high-sensitivity ( equivalent to 1 V/A ...

Improved performance Rogowski coils for power system

2003 IEEE PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37495), 2004
For power system applications, Rogowski coil output voltage is sent to both relays and measuring equipments. The former requires adequate bandwidth and the latter needs adequate sensitivity. However, one could not arbitrarily increase the winding density to increase the sensitivity since the bandwidth is decreased.

Study of Measuring Error of Rogowski Coil

2019 Photonics & Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Fall (PIERS - Fall), 2019
Electronic current transformer (ECT) is widely used in test and measuring. As a key part of ECT, Rogowski coil should be installed correctly to give a precise measurement. Thus, we give qualitative and quantitative analysis on some situation that may influence the measuring accuracy and use Maxwell to verify it.

A Calibrating Device for Rogowski Coil Development

Plasma Science and Technology, 2007
A calibrating device for the Rogowski coil is developed, which can be used to calibrate the Rogowski coil having a partial response time within tens of nanoseconds. Its key component is a step current generator, which can generate the output with a rise time of less than 2 ns and a duration of larger than 300 ns.

Calibration of Rogowski coils at high currents

CPEM 2010, 2010
This paper describes the calibration of a Rogowski coil (RC) with an integrator assigned for current measurement in the range up to 25 kA at 50 Hz mains frequency. A current loop with 10 turns with a current of 2.5 kA is used for calibration. The magnetic field generated in such a way differs from the field of one turn placed in the centre and passed ...

Using Rogowski coils for transient current measurements

Engineering Science and Education Journal, 1993
In recent years the Rogowski-coil method of measuring electric current has developed from a ‘laboratory curiosity’ to a versatile measuring system with many applications throughout industry and in research. The technique possesses many features which offer an advantage over iron-cored current measuring devices and these are well illustrated by ...
