Le roi est mort!: Vive le roi? [PDF]

Uniform Chernoff and Dvoretzky-Kiefer-Wolfowitz-type inequalities for Markov chains and related processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We observe that the technique of Markov contraction can be used to establish measure concentration for a broad class of non-contracting chains. In particular, geometric ergodicity provides a simple and versatile framework.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Comparable Accuracy of Quantitative and Visual Analyses of [18F]FDG PET/CT for the Detection of Lymph Node Metastases from Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Background: In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), [18F]FDG PET/CT is recommended for detecting recurrent disease and in the initial staging for evaluating distant metastases, but its use in detecting cervical lymph metastases remains unclear.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

SSFuzzyART: A Semi-Supervised Fuzzy ART through seeding initialization and a clustered data generation algorithm to deeply study clustering solutions

open access: yesArray, 2023
Semi-supervised clustering is a machine learning technique that was introduced to boost clustering performance when labeled data is available. Indeed, some labeled data are usually available in real use cases, and can be used to initialize the clustering

On-line Search History-assisted Restart Strategy for Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy

open access: yes, 2019
Restart strategy helps the covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) to increase the probability of finding the global optimum in optimization, while a single run CMA-ES is easy to be trapped in local optima.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Diagnostic Superiority of Dual-Time Point [18F]FDG PET/CT to Differentiate Malignant from Benign Soft Tissue Tumors

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
[18F]FDG PET/CT is used in the workup of indeterminate soft tissue tumors (STTs) but lacks accuracy in the detection of malignant STTs. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether dual-time point [18F]FDG PET/CT imaging (DTPI) can be useful in this ...

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.
