Roll damping decay of a FPSO with bilge keel
Ocean Engineering, 2014The roll damping decay is investigated for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO). For this purpose, a roll decay test of a middle section of FPSO with bilge keel is simulated by means of the numerical solution of the incompressible two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations.

Numerical simulations of free roll decay of DTMB 5415
Ocean Engineering, 2018Abstract Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) that implement finite volume method are offering accurate and precise solutions for ship roll problem. In this study, the free roll decay of the benchmark DTMB 5415 hull with bilge keels in calm water was numerically solved by applying this type of code.

Analysis of the Roll Decay Motion for a Patrol Boat by URANS Simulations
Volume 5: Polar and Arctic Sciences and Technology; CFD and VIV, 2009The simulations of the flow around a vessel of the Italian Navy in free roll decay have been carried out by the numerical solution of the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The focus is on the analysis of the roll motion coefficients (damping and period of oscillations) at different Froude and Reynolds numbers.

Automated processing of free roll decay experimental data
Ocean Engineering, 2015This work presents an efficient numerical and modular approach to assessing viscous roll damping coefficients from free decay tests. In order to reduce the time consumed during analysis, numerical pre-processing of the data without visual inspection is suggested. The method involves breaking down multiple decay motions recorded in a single time series,

A Study of the Roll Motion by Means of a Free Decay Test
Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 2010In this study, a method for the extraction of damping by tracing free roll decay is presented. For this purpose, in calm waters, a bulk carrier model is given a large initial roll angle and then released. Consequently, the roll motion is recorded.

Several remarks on EFD and CFD for ship roll decay
Ocean Engineering, 2019Abstract A purpose-built device was designed to obtain high-quality experimental fluid dynamics (EFD) data of ship roll decay motions initially. Then, a model experiment was conducted for a slender ship using the proposed device with an accurate optical fibre gyroscope. A few important remarks on EFD were derived through analyses of the measured data.
