Long-range effects in granular avalanching

open access: yes, 2000
We introduce a model for granular flow in a one-dimensional rice pile that incorporates rolling effects through a long-range rolling probability for the individual rice grains proportional to $r^{-\rho}$, $r$ being the distance traveled by a grain in a ...

Evaluation of a Novel Electric Health Record Sidecar Application to Display Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Outcomes During Clinic Visits: Results of a Stepped‐Wedge Cluster Randomized Pragmatic Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We developed a novel electronic health record sidecar application to visualize key rheumatoid arthritis (RA) outcomes, including disease activity, physical function, and pain, via a patient‐facing graphical interface designed for use during outpatient visits (“RA PRO dashboard”).

Analysis of springback in cylindrical bending of bi-directional trapezoidal sandwich panels

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2019
Integral bending is an efficient and economical method to manufacture curved sandwich panels, and its forming characteristics and springback prediction are a major concern.

MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL TREATMENT REDUCES THE RISK OF TREATMENT ESCALATION DUE TO VASCULAR COMPLICATIONS IN LIMITED CUTANEOUS SYSTEMIC SCLEROSIS: EMULATION OF A TARGET TRIAL FROM ITALIAN RHEUMATOLOGY SOCIETY SPRING REGISTRY

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon due to the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of the vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.

Poisson structures for reduced non-holonomic systems

open access: yes, 2004
Borisov, Mamaev and Kilin have recently found certain Poisson structures with respect to which the reduced and rescaled systems of certain non-holonomic problems, involving rolling bodies without slipping, become Hamiltonian, the Hamiltonian function ...

Effect of Implementing a Dashboard With or Without a Best Practice Alert on HLA‐B*58:01 Testing Rates Among Allopurinol Users at VA Medical Centers

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The American College of Rheumatology recommends HLA‐B*58:01 allele testing before the initiation of allopurinol, specifically among Asian and African American/Black patients, due to their increased risk for severe hypersensitivity reactions. However, testing rates remain low at many health care facilities.

Marginalia and Meaning: Off-Site/Sight/Cite Points of Reference for Extended Trajectories in Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This study argues that drawing upon off-site/ sight/ cite points of reference affords a space for extended trajectories of learning and the cultivation of rich and atypical personal meaning unavailable within the terrain and climes of typical schooling ...

Ultrasonic roll bite measurements in cold rolling – Roll stress and deformation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Processing Technology, 2017
In cold rolling of thin metal strip, contact conditions between the work rolls and the strip are of great importance: roll deformations and their effect on strip thickness variation may lead to strip flatness defects and thickness inhomogeneity. To control the process, several online measurements are usually carried out such as the rolling load ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
