Bridging Horizontal to Vertical Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Radiative cooling materials are mature but only work facing the sky, confining them to rooftops. Instead of developing new ones, this system bridges existing horizontal coolers to vertical windows using blades outside the glass. On an occupied urban building, windows stay up to 1.4°C below air temperature while preserving daylight, outward views, and ...

A Thickness‐Invariant Origami Robot With Integrated Actuation and Multimodal Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thickness‐invariant variation on the Yoshimura origami pattern is used as the basis of a robot, allowing power, actuation, and control systems to be embedded within the thickened panels of the pattern. The robot uses multiple kinematic branches to achieve distinct modes of locomotion, such as walking, running, galloping, and turning. ABSTRACT Origami

Micro/Nanoscale Acoustic Manipulation: From Particle Control to Autonomous Microswimmers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This conceptual framework illustrates acoustic technology as a multifunctional platform enabling passive particle manipulation across scales and autonomous propulsion of microswimmers. ABSTRACT Acoustic manipulation and propulsion technologies have emerged as powerful platforms for micro/nanoscale control, enabled by their non‐contact operation, label ...

A Scalable Double‐Sided Wet Etching Strategy for Large‐Area Mushroom‐Shaped Bionic Adhesives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a scalable manufacturing strategy for high‐performance, large‐area, mushroom‐shaped bio‐inspired adhesives. Using a double‐sided wet etching process, the complex 3D metal molds are fabricated rapidly and controllably. The resulting adhesive structures exhibit strong, stable adhesion under various conditions, including atmosphere and ...

Self‐Sustaining Sensing Systems: Integration Strategies and Signal–Power Matching in Energy‐Harvesting Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Energy‐harvesting‐integrated sensors couple ambient energy conversion with sensing, processing, and wireless communication. This review organizes recent progress through integration architectures and operating principles, revisiting co‐packaged, monolithic, and co‐functional designs together with always‐on, event‐driven, and multi‐modal sensing modes ...
