Fundamentals of Rolling Resistance

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2001
Abstract Increasing pressure over the last three decades to improve vehicle fuel economy and decrease emissions along with a strong sense of environmental stewardship has driven the tire and rubber industries to reduce tire rolling resistance.

Strain resistance of steel during roll ingotless rolling

Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2007
The variation of the strain resistance during roll ingotless rolling has been considered; this variation is found to depend on the ratio of the solidification-zone length to the plastic-deformation-zone length, which affects the strain and strain rate.

Thermal-fatigue resistant work rolls for hot rolling mills

Materials Testing, 2019
Abstract Cyclic temperature changes in the working layer of a roll during hot rolling cause thermal stress which leads to damage on the surface layer of the roll due to thermal fatigue. The pre-conditions of crack initiation are described.

Rolling Resistance Calculation

2015
This chapter provides a means for estimating the rolling resistance coefficient of a wheel. This information has two uses: it can assist the designer in choosing among candidate wheels and bearings, and it provides rolling resistance coefficients to be used in energy consumption analysis.

Rolling Resistance of a Skateboard

Volume 14: Safety Engineering, Risk, and Reliability Analysis, 2020
Abstract Skateboards have been used as a means of transportation and extreme sports for decades. The forensic analysis of skateboard-related accidents requires knowledge of the kinematic characteristics of the skater-skateboard and skateboard-ground interactions to aid in the investigative process.

Laboratory Evaluation of Rolling Resistance

2021
This paper presents a laboratory test method to characterize the relationship between rolling resistance and macrotexture of road surfaces. Description of the testing (machine, samples, protocol) is provided. Results are comparable to those obtained by instrumented trailers on road surfaces with similar macrotexture.

Rolling Resistance of Tires

2019
The rolling resistance (RR) of a tire depends on three factors: (i) the energy loss of rubber and reinforcements due to the cyclic deformation of the rolling tire, (ii) frictional energy in the contact area and (iii) the air resistance of the tire.

Resistance to Rolling and Sliding

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1958
Abstract In general a single “coefficient of friction” is inadequate to define the fractional resistance between contacting bodies. It is necessary to know both the inclination of the resultant force line and the offset of this line from the theoretical point of contact.

Roll-to-roll printed resistive WORM memory on a flexible substrate

Nanotechnology, 2012
The fabrication process and the operation characteristics of a fully roll-to-roll printed resistive write-once-read-many memory on a flexible substrate are presented. The low-voltage (
