Development of electron source feedback for enhanced X‐ray beam stability at NSLS‐II

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 585-595, May 2026.
An electron‐source feedback method has been demonstrated at the NSLS‐II Hard X‐ray Nanoprobe, using X‐ray beam position data to drive electron beam corrections. The approach suppresses dominant vibration peaks and significantly improves X‐ray beam stability and ptychographic image quality.Future synchrotron light sources are being designed to deliver ...

Behavioral and demographic effects of open‐pit mining on Central Mountain Caribou in British Columbia

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
The demographic manifestation of mining effects on caribou, a species listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, has been disputed. We characterized a cascade of events for caribou associated with open‐pit coal mining beginning with maladaptive behavior responses leading to negative demographic outcomes for the affected caribou ...

The Effect of the Anticonvulsant Topiramate on Acetylcholine‐Induced Calcium Signals is Linked to Sirt‐1 Activity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
This work provides a potential new link between the anticonvulsive Topiramate, the deacetylase Sirt‐1 and the cholinergic signalling, suggesting that Topiramate may modulate cholinergic pathways in a Sirt‐1 depended manner. ABSTRACT Although some forms of epilepsy directly result from mutations in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, none of the ...
