*Romiplostim is an Fc-peptide fusion protein (or 'peptibody') that stimulates megakaryopoiesis and thrombopoiesis by binding to, and activating, the thrombopoietin receptor. *Because it has no sequence homology to thrombopoietin, romiplostim theoretically avoids the risk of eliciting cross-reacting, neutralizing antibodies to thrombopoietin.
