Systematics of Marmosa Subgenus Micoureus With Emphasis in ‘rapposa’ Group (Didelphidae, Marmosini): Geographic Variation and Revalidation of M. budini

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 681-692, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Micoureus is the most species‐rich subgenus within the genus Marmosa. Conflicting arrangements regarding the number of species comprising this subgenus have been proposed and the validity of M. budini has been debated. Here, we used an approach integrating genetic and morphological data were conducted to reanalyze the ‘rapposa’ group ...

Virtual Screening of Bacteriocins From Lactic Acid Bacteria Against Monkeypox DNA Polymerase: Sakacin P and Mundticin KS Emerge as Promising Candidates

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study employs an in silico virtual screening workflow to evaluate lactic acid bacteria (LAB)‐derived bacteriocins as potential inhibitors of the monkeypox virus DNA polymerase (MPDP). Protein‐peptide docking simulations using the HADDOCK platform revealed that Sakacin P and Mundticin KS possess the highest binding affinities for the MPDP target ...

Deforestation Triggers State‐Dependent Cloud Regimes in the Amazon

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The Amazon's arc of deforestation is a hotspot of rapid land‐cover change. Using 20 years of MODIS imagery combined with cloud property retrievals, CERES radiative fluxes, and ERA5 data, we show that deforestation consistently enhances low‐level cloudiness over non‐forest relative to nearby forest during the Amazon dry season.

Tracing Species Boundaries Through Genomic Baits: Diagnostic SNP Panels for Genotyping Orchid Pollinaria

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Orchidaceae is one of the largest angiosperm families, with extensive floral morphological diversity, complex pollination systems, and frequent hybridization, which complicate species delimitation. Target capture offers a scalable alternative to whole‐genome sequencing for phylogenomic and ecological applications, but operational thresholds ...
