Harnessing Chain Mobility via Protonation for Tough and Isotropic Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
A protonation‐guided strategy enables ultra‐tough, isotropic PVA hydrogels by temporarily unlocking chain mobility via acidification and fixing homogeneous networks through salting‐out. The resulting materials simultaneously achieve high strength, extreme stretchability, and record‐level toughness, offering a generalizable route toward robust hydrogels

Guest‐Induced Activation of Multicolor Photoluminescence in Naphthalene Bisimide Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 17, 20 March 2026.
Supramolecular host–guest design in naphthalene bisimide liquid crystals activates charge‐transfer emission and enables continuous tuning of color (511–685 nm) and lifetime, spanning prompt fluorescence, TADF, and RTP. Electron‐rich guests and Pt(II) complexes modulate emissive states, while co‐assembled NBI complexes create an energy‐transfer cascade ...

Elucidating the Mechanism behind the Enhancement of Persistent Luminescence in ZnGa2O4: Cr3+ Nanoparticles upon H2O2 Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 12, 25 March 2026.
ABSTRACT Persistent luminescence (PersL) materials exhibit prolonged emission of light, lasting from seconds to hours after stopping the excitation. At the nanoscale, they have attracted considerable interest for applications in in vivo imaging, photodynamic therapy, and biosensing.

Orthogonal Quintuple‐Stimuli Responsiveness in an Ultrastable, Ultrabright Cu16 Nanocluster via Molecular and Supramolecular Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 9, 6 March 2026.
Through simultaneous molecular and supramolecular engineering, an atomically precise nanocluster Cu16 with ambient ultrastability and ultrabright luminescence is constructed. Cu16 employs a dual structural/luminescent channel mechanism to achieve orthogonal responsiveness to five external stimuli, demonstrating multidimensional signalling capability ...
