Iridium complex, a phosphorescent light-emitting diode material, serves as a novel chemical probe for imaging hypoxic tumor tissues

open access: yes, 2007
Iridium complex, a promising organic light-emitting diode for next generation television displays, emits phosphorescence. Phosphorescence is quenched by oxygen. We used this oxygen-quenching feature for imaging tumor hypoxia.

Activation of Aryl Halides by Triplet–Triplet Annihilation Upconversion Enabling Coupling Processes Under an Open‐to‐Air Environment

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA‐UC) performed inside supramolecular viscoelastic gels enables efficient CC and C–heteroatom coupling reactions under green LED irradiation in open‐air conditions. The gel network restricts oxygen diffusion, preserves triplet states, and allows aryl halide activation through upconverted excited states ...

Narrowband Macrocycles: A New Paradigm for High‐Color‐Purity Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesFlexTech, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates two key strategies for constructing macrocyclic multi‐resonance (MR) emitters for high‐performance OLEDs: (1) the covalent assembly of MR moieties onto macrocyclic scaffolds, and (2) the local multi‐resonance strategy within the macrocyclic backbone.

Crystallization-induced phosphorescence of benzils at room temperature

open access: yes, 2013
Efficient room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) is rarely observed in pure organic luminogens. However, we have newly observed that benzil and its derivatives are nonluminescent in solvents and thin layer chromatography (TLC) plates, but become highly ...

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence exciplex sensitizers with fast reverse intersystem crossing for improving efficiency stability of organic light‐emitting diodes based on multi‐resonance emitters

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Two exciplex emitters are constructed based on a host‐guest doping strategy, and their exciton dynamics processes are investigated in depth. High‐performance OLEDs are fabricated by employing these exciplexes as emitters or sensitizers, providing excellent electroluminescence efficiencies and low efficiency roll‐offs.
