Deactivation of biacetyl triplets by cyanocobaltate(III) complexes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
The rate of electronic energy transfer from biacetyl triplets to Co(CN)_(5)(X)^(n–)(X = CN^–, MeCN, pyridine, N_(3)^–, H_(2)O, or SCN^–) is strongly dependent on the energy of the first spin-allowed d–d transition of Co(CN)_(5)(X)^(n–), and (for X = CN^–,

Sensitized Triplet Exciton Generation in Nanostructured Polymer Scintillators: Toward Improved γ/Neutron Discrimination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid γ/neutron discrimination through PSD is achieved in liquid droplet containing nanostructured polymeric scintillator where a TTA‐active dye is dissolved. The inclusion of a properly selected and dosed sensitizer metalated porphyrin enhances discrimination sensitivity and speed by doubling the density of annihilating triplets and increasing the ...

Hydrogen Atom Transfer Induces Photodegradation in Carbonyl‐Based Multi‐Resonance TADF Emitters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Boosting triplet harvesting in N/C═O MR‐TADF emitters unexpectedly induces rapid photodegradation under oxygen‐free conditions. Spectroscopic studies reveal that triplet excited states trigger hydrogen‐atom transfer from solvent to the carbonyl unit, driven by triplet energetics and hydrogen electrophilicity.

A diffuse reflectance comparative study of benzil inclusion within microcrystalline cellulose and beta-cyclodextrin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Diffuse reflectance and laser-induced techniques were used to study photochemical and photophysical processes of benzil adsorbed on two solid powdered supports, microcrystalline cellulose and beta-cyclodextrin.

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Highly Efficient Mechanochromic Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence in the Deep Red to Near‐Infrared in Copper(I) [2.2]Isoindolinophanyl‐Carbene Carbazolates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Electrophilic [2.2]isoindolinophanyl‐based carbene iPC has been employed as charge‐transfer acceptor ligand in a series of [Cu(iPC)(carbazolate)], which show mechanochromism and environment‐dependent luminescence due to intermolecular C─‐H‐π interactions.

General Approach To Compute Phosphorescent OLED Efficiency

open access: yes, 2018
Phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs) are widely used in the display industry. In PhOLEDs, cyclometalated Ir(III) complexes are the most widespread triplet emitter dopants to attain red, e.g., Ir(piq)3 (piq = 1-phenylisoquinoline), and ...
