Acoustic Room Compensation Using Local PCA-based Room Average Power Response Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Acoustic room compensation techniques, which allow a sound reproduction system to counteract undesired alteration to the sound scene due to excessive room resonances, have been widely studied. Extensive efforts have been reported to enlarge the region over which room equalization is effective and to contrast variations of room transfer functions in ...

Enhancing Audio Perception of Music By AI Picked Room Acoustics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Every sound that we hear is the result of successive convolutional operations (e.g. room acoustics, microphone characteristics, resonant properties of the instrument itself, not to mention characteristics and limitations of the sound reproduction system).

Dataset of Spatial Room Impulse Responses in a Variable Acoustics Room for Six Degrees-of-Freedom Rendering and Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Room acoustics measurements are used in many areas of audio research, from physical acoustics modelling and speech enhancement to virtual reality applications. This paper documents the technical specifications and choices made in the measurement of a dataset of spatial room impulse responses (SRIRs) in a variable acoustics room.

Potential of Room Acoustic Solver with Plane-Wave Enriched Finite Element Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Predicting room acoustics using wave-based numerical methods has attracted great attention in recent years. Nevertheless, wave-based predictions are generally computationally expensive for room acoustics simulations because of the large dimensions of ...

Reduced order modelling using parameterized non-uniform boundary conditions in room acoustic simulations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Quick simulations for iterative evaluations of multi-design variables and boundary conditions are essential to find the optimal acoustic conditions in building design. We propose to use the reduced basis method (RBM) for realistic room acoustic scenarios where the surfaces have inhomogeneous acoustic properties, which enables quick evaluations of ...

Acoustic simulation of J.S. Bach’s Thomaskirche in 1723 and 1539

open access: yesActa Acustica, 2021
This paper investigates an early acoustical theory of Hope Bagenal about the Leipzig Thomaskirche, where J.S. Bach composed and conducted from 1723 to 1750. Bagenal predicted that the church had a shorter reverberation time than previously in Bach’s time

Anisotropic Spin-Acoustic Resonance in Silicon Carbide at Room Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 125, 107702 (2020), 2020
We report on acoustically driven spin resonances in atomic-scale centers in silicon carbide at room temperature. Specifically, we use a surface acoustic wave cavity to selectively address spin transitions with magnetic quantum number differences of $\pm$1 and $\pm$2 in the absence of external microwave electromagnetic fields.

The Acoustical Performance of Rooms [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1948
It is appreciated that the reverberation characteristic is only one measure representing the acoustical performance of a room. Measurements have been made on a number of average size studios and rooms using techniques other than reverberation measurement. Equipment has been constructed to produce an audio signal varying continuously in frequency and in

Junk Food or Haute Cuisine to the Ear? – Investigating the Relationship Between Room Acoustics, Soundscape, Non-Acoustical Factors, and the Perceived Quality of Restaurants

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2021
Sound and music are well-studied aspects of the quality of experience in restaurants; the role of the room acoustical conditions, their influence on the visitors’ soundscape evaluation and their impact on the overall customer satisfaction in restaurants,
