A Review of Finite Element Methods for Room Acoustics
Accurate predictions of the wave-dominated region of an acoustic field in a room can be generated using wave-based computational methods. One such method is the finite element method (FEM).

Programmable Reconfiguration of Hybrid 4D Chiral Metamaterials via Mechanical and Thermal Stimuli
A class of hybrid chiral mechanical metamaterials is designed to achieve programmable reconfiguration through soft networks, hinges, and bilayer joints integrated with rigid units. Responsive to mechanical and thermal stimuli, these structures exhibit large volume changes, tunable deformation pathways, and both positive and negative thermal expansion ...

Active diffusers : some prototypes and 2D measurements [PDF]
Diffusing devices are used to improve room acoustics in a wide variety of applications. The dispersion generated by current diffuser technologies is often limited to mid-to-high frequencies because low-frequency diffusers are usually too large to be ...

The Acoustics of the Palace of Charles V as a Cultural Heritage Concert Hall
This paper analyses the acoustic behaviour of the Palace of Charles V from a room acoustics perspective but also ponders the uniqueness of the space and its ability to engage and enhance the audience experience. The Palace of Charles V is a relevant part

The fabrication of a cellularized, multilayered 3D printed cylindrical model comprising hybrid bioinks inspired by the natural extracellular environment as an approach to artery mimetics, is presented. Using embedded bioprinting, interlayer crosslinking of self‐supporting concentric cylinders is achieved.

Simulation of the acoustics of coupled rooms by numerical resolution of a diffusion equation [PDF]
Over the last few years, some studies showed that the acoustic energy density in closed or semi-closed spaces may be the solution of a diffusion equation.

Optical Control of the Thermal Conductivity in BaTiO3
Light‐driven manipulation of thermal conductivity in archetypal ferroelectric, BaTiO3, offers a novel and effective approach for the dynamical control of the heat flux, with potential applications in thermal management and phonon‐based logic. Abstract Achieving dynamic control over thermal conductivity remains a formidable challenge in condensed matter

Deep Room Recognition Using Inaudible Echos
Recent years have seen the increasing need of location awareness by mobile applications. This paper presents a room-level indoor localization approach based on the measured room's echos in response to a two-millisecond single-tone inaudible chirp emitted

Spherical microphone array acoustic rake receivers [PDF]
Several signal independent acoustic rake receivers are proposed for speech dereverberation using spherical microphone arrays. The proposed rake designs take advantage of multipaths, by separately capturing and combining early reflections with the direct ...
