A New Control for Room Air-Conditioners

IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1968
An adjustable bimetal temperature control for room air-conditioners is reviewed. Control engineering parameters, design considerations, and unique switching properties are outlined. Finally the performance of this narrow-differential high-energy system is analyzed in terms of temperature response and effective differential.

Household ownership of electric room air conditioners

Energy Economics, 1998
The rapid increase in the number of electric room air conditioners (AC units) per household, which may affect summer peak demand for electricity, may be due in part to their relatively low purchase prices. The present study attempted to measure the effects of purchase prices on the household's choice of the number of AC units, using a subsample of the ...

Study on Room Air Conditioner Dehumidification Capacity

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Room air conditioner is widely used in a single room or other enclosed spaces to increase the comfort of the environment. It adjusts the temperature and humidity to maintain the comfort for humans; dehumidification is a very important function of room air conditioner.

Decision support system for room level air conditioners

Proceedings of the 2017 ACM International Joint Conference on Pervasive and Ubiquitous Computing and Proceedings of the 2017 ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computers, 2017
In developing countries, room-level air conditioners (air-cons) are a major consumer of electricity across residential and small-scale commercial buildings. In these air-cons, the user specifies their comfort requirements on an inbuilt thermostat through infrared (IR) based remotes.

Airborne Fungal and Bacterial Levels Associated With the Use of Automobile Air Conditioners or Heaters, Room Air Conditioners, and Humidifiers

Archives of Environmental & Occupational Health, 2008
The authors performed 3 experiments to measure temporal variation in airborne bacterial and fungal levels associated with the use of air conditioners (ACs), heaters, and humidifiers. The concentrations of bioaerosols that they measured inside vehicles and a seminar room prior to use of an AC were lower than or similar to those for outdoor air.

A novel system of the isothermal dehumidification in a room air-conditioner

Energy and Buildings, 2013
Abstract In Yangtze River area in China, the temperature in the transitional seasons is moderate but the humidity is high so that the inhabitants feel uncomfortable, thus, the air needs to be dehumidified without lowering the temperature (isothermal dehumidification). In this paper, a novel isothermal dehumidification method in a room air-conditioner

Future environmental impacts of room air-conditioners in Europe

Building Research & Information, 2009
The potential environmental impacts of room air-conditioners in Europe are described, based on an analysis for the European Commission in support of the Energy-using Products Directive. About half the current cooling need of buildings in Europe is met by room air-conditioners – the rest being met by central systems.

Development of Room Air Conditioner with Twin-Propeller Fans

2018 International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC-Niigata 2018 -ECCE Asia), 2018
In order to realize a significant energy conservation and comfort of room air conditioners, we have developed a new structure indoor unit which drastically reviewed the internal structure for the first time in about half a century. This indoor unit improves energy saving performance by changing the shape of the air passage matching the air flow through

Noise inhibiting arrangements for room air conditioners

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
Synthetic sponge or other resilient material is joined to the top of a room air-conditioner to absorb the physical impact of rain and dripping water to inhibit the creation of the noise that would otherwise occur. Additionally, a buffer formed with angular surfaces, to absorb and deflect the full impact of rain and dripping water to inhibit the ...
