The Complete Chloroplast Genome Sequences of Salvia reflexa and Genome Comparison: Implications for Phylogeny and Plant Invasion

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study reports the complete chloroplast genome of Salvia reflexa and compares it with those of other invasive and non‐invasive Salvia species to explore genomic features associated with invasiveness. The chloroplast genome exhibits a typical quadripartite structure and shows high conservation within the genus, while several hypervariable regions ...

Unraveling Spatiotemporal Heterogeneity and Driving Mechanism of Vegetation Recovery in Co‐Seismic Landslide Areas via Nonlinear Trajectories and Bayesian Networks

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We developed an integrated GAM–Bayesian framework to diagnose the nonlinear recovery dynamics of vegetation in landslide‐affected areas. Our model reveals that most sites reached a key recovery inflection point within 5–7 years, with faster recovery occurring under warm, moist, and moderate light conditions.

Cougar density on the Oregon Coast: Using dead recovery modeling in an open population

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 6, August 2026.
The primary objective of this study was to determine cougar density in western Oregon. Our results demonstrate that integrating DNA collected via bio‐darting, mandatory hunter‐harvest check‐ins, and GPS collar data into the OPCR2 is a reliable method for estimating cougar densities in densely forested coastal systems.

Nematode Community Profiling in Organic and Conventional Spinach Systems

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Agricultural management practices play a significant role in shaping soil biological communities and ecosystem processes. Soil nematodes are valuable biological indicators of soil health because they occupy different trophic levels and are sensitive to alterations in environmental conditions.

Shared and specific molecular mechanisms of proteasome inhibitors in chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neurotoxicity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 5120-5147, August 2026.
This study compares the molecular mechanisms of chemotherapy‐related peripheral neurotoxicity of two proteasome inhibitors, bortezomib and carfilzomib, using a multidisciplinary approach to reveal that, alongside shared effects on mitochondria structure and function, the more neurotoxic drug BTZ has specific effects on microtubules and mitochondrial ...

Thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich Effect in the Circumgalactic Medium. II. Dependence on Star Formation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We measure the thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich effect in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of ≈2.5 million M _200  = 10 ^12−14 M _⊙ WISE × DESI galaxies out to z = 1.2.

Systemic Antibiotics in the Surgical Treatment of Peri‐Implantitis: Impact on the Salivary Microbiome

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, Volume 53, Issue 8, Page 1265-1277, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To exploratorily compare the shifts in the salivary microbiome composition after administration of two combined systemic antibiotic regimens used in the surgical treatment of peri‐implantitis. Materials and Methods A subset of 27 patients treated surgically for peri‐implantitis with an adjunctive 7‐day course of systemic antibiotics were ...

Sleep Across the Pandemic in Norwegian University and College Students: A National Repeated Cross‐Sectional Analysis (2010–2023)

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 35, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Sleep problems are increasingly common among students in higher education, but long‐term trajectories before, during and after the COVID‐19 pandemic remain poorly described. We analysed population‐level surveillance data from the Students' Health and Wellbeing Study conducted in Norway in 2010, 2014, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, including nearly
