Increasing Parallelism in the ROOT I/O Subsystem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
When processing large amounts of data, the rate at which reading and writing can take place is a critical factor. High energy physics data processing relying on ROOT is no exception. The recent parallelisation of LHC experiments' software frameworks and the analysis of the ever increasing amount of collision data collected by experiments further ...

4D Printed Self‐Deploying Bio‐Based Scaffolds for the Regeneration of Endoluminal Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A bilayer self‐deploying tubular C‐shaped scaffold, made of natural polymers and triggerable by humidity, is fabricated via 4D printing for the regeneration of gastro‐intestinal tissue. The choice of the materials and their spatial arrangement is guided by physical and biological evaluation, whereas the geometry of the structure is optimized through ...

A rare occurrence of bilateral C-shaped roots in mandibular first and second premolars diagnosed with the aid of spiral computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The C-shaped canal system is an anatomical variation mostly seen in mandibular second molars, although it can also occur in maxillary and other mandibular molars. Such variation in the root canal anatomy is uncommon in mandibular first premolars and very

Exploration of Half‐Cycle Length of Converging Circular Wavy Duct with Diverging‐Outlet: Turbulent Water Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Increasing half‐cycles intensifies turbulence due to enhanced vortex interactions and flow separation at the diverged‐outlets. Longer wavy ducts are shown to increase flow acceleration, resulting in greater output velocities and more turbulent‐kinetic‐energy production. Wave‐period plays a crucial role in determining turbulent intensity, with amplitude

Clinical Studies on Root Canal Medicament with Formalin Guaiacol 2nd report : At the clinic of undergraduate students [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
In 317 cases of pulpectomy and infected root canal treated by intern students, Formarin-Guaiacol "NEO" (FG) was used as disinfectant in the root canal until the root canal filling was completed. The results obtained were as follows: 1.

A Rare Root Canal Configuration of a Maxillary Second Molar with Fused C-shaped Buccal Root and Five Canals: A Case Report and Review of literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Having a thorough knowledge of root canal configuration is essential for a successful endodontic treatment. Clinicians should always pay attention to the unusual canal configuration so as to avoid missing extra canals. This paper describes a non-surgical

A Convoy of Magnetic Millirobots Transports Endoscopic Instruments for Minimally‐Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The first electrocautery procedure performed by a team of millirobots (TrainBots) is presented. Enhanced with optimized feet, millirobots form a convoy to facilitate the collaborative transportation of wires and catheters through biological lumens, e.g. bile ducts. It opens up the possibility of using a team of mini‐robots in future endoscopic surgery.
