Anatomy of root canals. III. permanent mandibular molars
Australian Dental Journal, 1974Abstract— Variations in the form and number of root canals are greater in the mesial roots and in some specimens the mesial root was divided into two. The main variations show multiple canals with subdivisions and communications frequently with one common apical foramen.

Anatomy of root canals II. Permanent maxillary molars
Australian Dental Journal, 1974Abstract— Using an epoxy resin injection technique the root canal form of more than 100 soun maxillary molars waw demonstrated. It is rnost complex in the mesio‐buccal root, usually two canals intercommunicate and have fork‐like terminations. Disto‐bueeal and palatal roots usually have less complexity hut the form often is “S” shaped.

The Endodontic Cube: A System Designed for Evaluation of Root Canal Anatomy and Canal Preparation
Journal of Endodontics, 2001An extensively redesigned muffle system is presented incorporating improved design features, such as rigid external fixation and machined internal indexing to enable a more accurate, clinically relevant, and reproducible evaluation of root canal anatomy before and after preparation. Given the ability to directly observe and quantify changes in the root

Variations in root canal anatomy.
The New Zealand dental journal, 1991The tenets of root-canal treatment are the preparation, cleaning, and sealing of the root canals. An understanding of the variations in root-canal anatomy is necessary by those carrying out treatment. Recognition of a variation when it occurs is the first and most frequent step in completing successful treatment for these teeth.

Root Canal Anatomy Road Map to Successful Endodontics
Dental Clinics of North America, 1979Every tooth in the distal arch presents occasional aberrations from normal canal anatomy. The alert practitioner, aware of these anomalies, will avoid a frequent source of endodontic failure.

3D Visual Glossary of Terminology in Root and Root Canal Anatomy
2018The study of dental anatomy, physiology, and occlusion provides one of the basic components of the skills needed to practice all phases of dentistry. The first step in understanding dental anatomy is to learn the nomenclature and terminology used to describe or classify the material included in this subject.

Root canal anatomy of mandibular second molars
International Endodontic Journal, 1990Summary. The root canal anatomy of 19 mandibular second molars with C‐shaped canals was investigated by rendering the roots transparent and allowing the canal system to be observed by black ink infiltration. The presence of three root canals was most frequent, and lateral canals were found in all roots.

Root Canal Anatomy: Implications in Biofilm Disinfection
2015The primary goals of endodontic treatment are to disinfect and to seal the root canal system as effectively as possible, aiming to establish or maintain healthy periapical tissues. Treating complex and anomalous anatomy requires knowledge of the internal anatomy of all types of the teeth before undertaking endodontic therapy.
