Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

In vitro analysis of thermocompaction time and gutta-percha type on quality of main canal and lateral canals filling

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2010
The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of filling in main and lateral root canals performed with the McSpadden technique, regarding the time spent on the procedure and the type of gutta-percha employed.

Engineering Highly Cellularized Living Materials via Mechanical Agitation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanical agitation strategy is developed to engineer highly cellularized living materials, achieving cell densities of up to 1 billion cells per milliliter. By precisely tuning properties such as stiffness and toughness in blood clots, the approach is validated in both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Antimicrobial Efficacy of Medicated Root Canal Filling Materials

open access: yesJournal of Endodontics, 2006
Bacteria remaining within the root canal system are a significant factor in endodontic failures. The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of commercially available gutta-percha formulations against common endodontic pathogens. Standard, tetracycline, or iodoform (also called medicated gutta-percha; MGP) containing gutta-

Nanobody‐Decorated Lipid Nanoparticles for Enhanced mRNA Delivery to Tumors In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a targeted mRNA‐LNP platform engineered with anti‐PSMA nanobodies for prostate cancer therapy. Using different in vivo models, the authors demonstrate selective uptake and mRNA delivery in PSMA+ cancer cells. However, while targeting is enhanced, mRNA delivery efficacy is limited by tissue penetration, tumor necrosis, and immune ...

Clinical and radiographic evaluation of pulpectomies using three root canal filling materials: an in-vivo study.

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, 2010
Various root canal filling materials are used to preserve a pulpally involved carious primary tooth. But there is no single material so far available to fulfill all the requirements of an ideal root canal filling material for a primary tooth.

An Organ‐on‐Chip Platform for Strain‐Controlled, Tissue‐Specific Compression of Cartilage and Mineralized Osteochondral Interface to Study Mechanical Overloading in Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically active OsteoChondral Unit (OCU)‐on‐Chip platform mimicking the OCU's functional anatomy and the strain gradient across the osteochondral interface is presented. Upon compartment‐specific hyperphysiological compression, the model replicates mechanisms observed in osteoarthritis (OA) progression, such as calcium crystal accumulation ...

Odontogenic fungus maxillary sinusitis. Report of a clinical case

open access: yesЭндодонтия Today, 2020
In a 21-year-old woman, a sinusitis maxillaris resulting from overextension of root canal filling material after an endodontic treatment of a maxillary molar could be diagnosed through computed tomography.

Resilon: A Comprehensive Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects, 2013
Bonding to dentin is a promising property, which can prevent leakage and improve the sealing ability of endodontic filling materials. Resilon was developed and recommended initially because the existing root canal filling materials did not bond to root
