Surface Tension of Root Canal Irrigants

Journal of Endodontics, 2000
The aim of this study was to evaluate the surface tension values of established and potential endodontic irrigants to which a surface active agent had not been added. Additionally, Cetredixine, a surfactant-containing 0.2% chlorhexidine gluconate solution, was included in the measurements.

Spreading of root canal irrigants on root dentine

Australian Endodontic Journal, 2007
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the spreading of root canal irrigants on human root dentine. The spreading of various solutions on dentine surfaces was measured after pre‐treatment with various conditional solutions. Seven experimental groups were set based on the combination of conditioning solution‐test solution: none‐distilled ...

Complications during root canal irrigation

Endodontic Topics, 2007
Although endodontic irrigants are generally considered to be safe, severe complications can occur during or as a consequence of root canal irrigation. However, no data on the incidence of irrigation incidents could be found. In the following paper, a review is presented on the possible incidents that may occur during root canal irrigation with ...

Effectiveness of root canal irrigation

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1977
When root canals are being enlarged, repeated irrigation is mandatory. Under the conditions of this study, the most significant factor in obtaining maximum results in root canal irrigation is the diameter of the canals. The removal of debris seems to be a function of canal diameter rather than the type of solution used.

Root canal irrigation with citric acid solution

Journal of Endodontics, 1996
The purpose of this study was to investigate various properties of citric acid and EDTA solution as decalcifying and cleansing agents in root canal irrigation, and antibacterial effects of citric acid and EDTA solution. Powdered dentin-resin mixtures were used for evaluating the decalcifying effect of citric acid and EDTA solution.

The fluid mechanics of root canal irrigation

Physiological Measurement, 2010
Root canal treatment is a common dental operation aimed at removing the contents of the geometrically complex canal chambers within teeth; its purpose is to remove diseased or infected tissue. The complex chamber is first enlarged and shaped by instruments to a size sufficient to deliver antibacterial fluids.

Irrigation of the Root Canal System

Dental Clinics of North America, 1984
Debridement of the root canal system is essential for predictably successful endodontic therapy. The use of an endodontic irrigant during canal preparation is necessary to adequately debride the canal system. A review of the scientific evidence related to the desirable properties of an endodontic irrigant indicates that a solution of 5.25 per cent ...

Mechanical effectiveness of root canal irrigation

Journal of Endodontics, 1983
An in vitro study of the mechanical effectiveness of conventional root canal irrigation using hypodermic needle and syringe was carried out using an artificial system of standardized root canals and particles. The influence of needle size, the depth of insertion of the needle, and the pressure of irrigation on the effectiveness of irrigating the apical

Irrigation of the apical root canal

Endodontic Topics, 2012
Effective apical irrigation is one of the most important root canal procedures that has stood as a long‐standing challenge for the clinician. Despite the myriad of technological advances seen in the last few decades such as nickel–titanium rotary files of various designs and new irrigation delivery systems, very few seem to reliably impact upon a ...

Newer root canal irrigants-A review

Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2016
The main goal of the root canal treatment is to completely eliminate the different components of the pulpal tissue, calcification and bacteria, and to prevent infection or re-infection . Irrigants perform both biological and physical roles during endodontic treatments.
