Obturation of root canals in vivo with a new vacuum technique

It was demonstrated in vitro that it is possible to achieve obturation of the root canal system with a system utilizing a reduced pressure of 15 hPa (15 mbar). The purpose of this study was to develop a procedure to reach a vacuum of at least 15 hPa within root canals in vivo.

The Effect of MTAD on the Coronal Leakage of Obturated Root Canals

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of smear-layer removal using MTAD on coronal leakage of obturated root canals using a dye-leakage test. Fifty, extracted, single-rooted, human teeth were cleaned and shaped and divided into 5 equal groups of 10 each. The smear layer in groups 1 to 3 was left intact.

The use of Silastic as an injectable root canal obturating material

Twenty-eight extracted human anterior teeth were obturated with a Silastic mixture with use of a disposable syringe. Autoradiographic studies using S 35 showed that the leakage was not statistically different from that found in seven control teeth obturated with gutta-percha and ProcoSol sealers.
