The influence of different root canal instruments on root canal preparation: an in vitro study

International Endodontic Journal, 1991
Summary. Nine endodontic instruments from different manufacturers (Reamers, K‐files, Hedstrom files, K‐FIex files, Flexofiles, S‐files, Burns Unifiles, Flexicut files and Flex‐R files) were used to prepare 180 simulated root canals in resin blocks. The instrument's ability to reproduce a theoretical pre‐established ideal canal shape was assessed by ...

Hand instrumentation in root canal preparation

Endodontic Topics, 2005
Root canal preparation using traditional stainless‐steel ISO 0.01 tapered instruments by hand very often results in iatrogenic damage to curved root canals. A further disadvantage is their tendency to create narrow canal shapes which makes effective access for irrigants more difficult and apical extrusion of debris more likely.

Effect of Root Canal Preparation Techniques on Crack Formation in Root Dentin

Journal of Endodontics, 2019
The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of root crack formation caused by the use of manual instrumentation, 2 rotary systems, and 1 reciprocating system using light-emitting diode transillumination. One hundred fifty mandibular premolars were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 30): control 1, no intervention; control 2, instrumented with ...

Effect of canal preparation and residual root filling material on root impedance

International Endodontic Journal, 2008
AbstractAim  To investigate the effect of root canal preparation and residual root filling material on the impedance characteristics of extracted human roots.Methodology  Thirty extracted, human single‐rooted teeth were mounted in a custom‐made apparatus that allowed strict temperature control.

Comparison of three instruments in the preparation of curved root canals

Dental Traumatology, 1997
Abstract The transportation produced in the apical and middle areas of 30 mesiobuccal root canals of human mandibular molars was evaluated after circumferential instrumentation using stainless steel K‐files (group A), nickel‐titanium K‐files (group B), and clockwise/counterclockwise file rotation using Flexogates (group C). The canals were instrumented

The Anticurvature Filing Method to Prepare the Curved Root Canal

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1980
The anticurvature filing method maintains the integrity of canal walls at their thin portion and reduces the possibility of root perforation or stripping. With this method, the dental practitioner maintains digital control over the endodontic instrument, and the preparation of the curved canal is eased.

Comparison of three files to prepare curved root canals

Journal of Endodontics, 1995
Flex-R, Ultra-Flex (Ni-Ti construction), and K-type files were compared using a circumferential filing technique on 96 extracted human maxillary molars. Buccal canals with minimal initial curvature of 24 degrees were used. The maximal initial curvature was 52 degrees.

Effect of EDTA Preparations on Rotary Root Canal Instrumentation

Journal of Endodontics, 2015
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether rotary instrumentation using saline, EDTA 17% solution, or RC-Prep (Premier Dental, Philadelphia, PA) resulted in differences in root canal transportation. The secondary objective was to assess if instrumentation using these agents caused changes in the working length and canal volume.Moderately curved ...

The impact of minimally invasive root canal preparation strategies on the ability to shape root canals of mandibular molars

International Endodontic Journal, 2020
AbstractAimTo evaluate the use of a reduced taper endodontic instrument system (Bassi Logic™ .03 taper) and expandable heat‐treated system (XP‐endo Shaper) on the ability to shape canals in mandibular molars, by means of microcomputed tomography (micro‐CT) analysis.

The effect of an apical dentin plug in root canal preparation

Journal of Endodontics, 1988
The frequency of the creation of apical dentin plugs in unifected monkey teeth with vital pulps and their effect on healing of filled and unfilled canals were investigated. Two male monkeys, one Macaca mulatta and one Macaca speciosa , were used for a 9-and 12-month study. Forty-three root canals in 33 teeth prepared 0.5 to1 mm from the radiographic
