Geometric Characterizations of Canal Hypersurfaces in Euclidean Spaces [PDF]
arXiv, 2021 In the present paper, firstly we obtain the general expression of canal hypersurfaces in Euclidean n-space and deal with canal hypersurfaces in Euclidean 4-space E4. We compute Gauss map, Gaussian curvature and mean curvature of canal hypersurfaces in E4 and obtain an important relation between the mean and Gaussian curvatures as 3Hrho = Krho^3-2.

Canals in Milky Way radio polarization maps [PDF]
Mon.Not.Roy.Astron.Soc.Lett. 371 (2006) L21-L25, 2006 Narrow depolarized canals are common in maps of the polarized synchrotron emission of the Milky Way. Two physical effects that can produce these canals have been identified: the presence of Faraday rotation measure ($\RM$) gradients in a foreground screen and the cumulative cancellation of polarization known as differential Faraday rotation.
