The Semilunar Flap Technique for Root Coverage
Atlas of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics, 1999The semilunar flap technique may be considered as a simple, minimally invasive option for coronally repositioning the receded free gingival margin on the facial aspects of natural teeth and implants. Judicious case selection and careful application of the described procedure may enhance the final esthetic outcome using this approach.

The Deceptive Nature of Root Coverage Results
Journal of Periodontology, 2000Background: The purposes of this article are to: 1) propose a new method of reporting root coverage data; 2) compare existing root coverage techniques using the proposed data analysis method; and 3) discuss additional refinements to root coverage data analysis. Past studies have equated percent defect coverage with root coverage.

A Comparison of Two Techniques for Attaining Root Coverage
Journal of Periodontology, 1992This study compared the relative success of soft tissue coverage of denuded roots by two surgical procedures: Autogenous free gingival graft (FGG) and a 2‐stage coronallypositioned flap (CPF). Eight patients who had bilateral areas of gingival recession were selected.

Root Coverage with the Free Gingival Graft
Journal of Periodontology, 1987The free soft tissue autograft when used for increasing the amount of attached gingiva is a relatively simple surgical procedure. The use of the free soft tissue autograft for root coverage, however, is a much more technically demanding procedure requiring the periodontist to consider additional factors.

Decision making in root‐coverage procedures for the esthetic outcome
Periodontology 2000, 2018AbstractThe primary indication for treatment of gingival recessions is esthetics. In the last decades, patients have become increasingly more demanding in the esthetic outcome expected. In order to obtain a successful final result, periodontal plastic surgery should provide not only complete root coverage but also perfect blending in terms of color and

Root Coverage and Pocket Reduction as Combined Surgical Procedures [PDF]
Background: One of the main objectives of periodontal reconstructive surgery is the coverage of exposed roots due to gingival recession. A large variety of mucogingival grafting procedures are available that give highly predictable and esthetically acceptable results when treating intact root surfaces.

Root Coverage Procedures for Multiple Recession Defects
Current Oral Health Reports, 2017The demand for root coverage in multiple gingival recession defects has increased in recent years. Compared to isolated recession, multiple gingival recession defects are much more challenging due to various limiting factors and require more sophisticated surgical techniques.

A comparison of methods of aesthetic assessment in root coverage procedures
Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2009AbstractAim: To evaluate the reliability of professional qualitative scoring methods used in evaluating aesthetic results after root coverage therapy and to evaluate the relationship between subjective and objective measurements.Material and Methods: A review panel of seven professional and non‐professional, trained and untrained observers used ...

Free autogenous graft coverage of vital retained roots
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1983The use of free autogenous grafts to the alveolus during root submergence was shown to be a method that might be used to prevent the loss of masticatory mucosa and vestibular depth, which have been regarded as problems associated with the procedure.

Qualitative Cosmetic Evaluation After Root‐Coverage Procedures
Journal of Periodontology, 2009Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the esthetic outcome using four categories of root‐coverage procedures (pedicle soft tissue grafts, non‐submerged grafts, submerged grafts, and envelope techniques) and to identify factors associated with esthetic assessment. Methods: A professional panel of three observers (two periodontists ...
